The Grass Is Always Greener

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein
In a multi-way pot, on a flop of {2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, Barry Greenstein checked before raising to 13,900 after his opponent had fired a bet. With the pot heads-up at this point, his opponent moved all in with Greenstein making an easy call as he showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for top set and straight draw.

"That's all huh?" said his despondent opponent as he was in deep trouble with {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

"I kind of liked that flop," replied Greenstein.

The {9-Clubs} on the turn brought some life to the hand but the {k-Diamonds} on the river left Greenstein stacking up 100,000 chips.

Powell Singing

We didn't catch the action but walked past the table with David Singer counting out chips to pay off Julian Powell as the aftermath to a massive clash.

The board read {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and Powell's hand was the only one on the table with his {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} good to double through. Powell is up to nearly 70,000 with Singer crippled with just 7,000.

The Shark is Hungry!

Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes
Everyone's favourite shark, Humberto Brenes has just found a double up. With his last chips in the middle on the turn with the board reading {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{A-Spades} Brenes tabled the nuts with his {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} as his opponent was left in trouble with {J-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

The river bricked the {4-Diamonds} and Brenes doubles to 50,000 chips.

Ziigmund Eliminates Makowsky

With a sizeable amount of chips in preflop, Daniel Makowsky moved all in for the last few thousand chips on a {Q-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Diamonds} flop. Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies made the call with {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {10-Hearts} against Makowsky's {Q-Hearts} {10-?} {9-?} {6-?}. The turn was the {K-Spades} and the river the {5-Spades}. Ziigmund's solitary pair of aces were enough to win it all.

Bad Beat for Chau Giang

Chau Giang
Chau Giang
A few hours ago Chau Giang asked to grab one of the chairs nearby to our PokerNews desk. We said no problems and he decided to place the second chair on top of the first, to give himself a little extra elevation at the table.

All seemed well, until recently when Giang was sitting with both chairs facing with their backs to the table.

Just yards from us we just witnessed Giang's top chair unbalance itself from the one below, to see Giang fall flat on his back onto the floor. While moderately amusing, Giang was in some distress as he appears to have given his head a whack onto the dealer's chair of the table behind him.

"Bad beat Chau!" yelled Barry Greenstein from across the room as the players were all distracted by the fall.

A little dazed and still rubbing his head, Giang is now back in action, with just one chair, and in the traditional manner.

Giang has 32,000 chips.

Bloch-age

Andy Bloch has been virtually felted after he was all in with {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {4-Clubs} against {10-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {4-Spades} on a {J-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Hearts} flop. Bloch's ace high was ahead on the flop and on the {Q-Clubs} turn but the {4-Diamonds} river made his opponent a 6-high straight.

Bloch has only 2,000 left.

Got a Luske for Life!

Marcel Luske called a bet of 6,500 on a {J-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} board against Eric Froehlich. The river paired with the {9-Hearts} and Froehlich check-called a bet of 15,000 from the Dutchman only to be shown {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for a boat.

Ivey Busto

Phil Ivey looks to have done a disappearing act from the Brasilia room with his customary quick and quiet exit while no-one was looking.
