Official Comment on the Dinner Break Color-Up Incident

A quick update on the color-up problems that were experienced during the dinner break. After speaking with a tournament official they informed us of the exact problems that were experienced during the break.

It appears there were two separate errors in the color-up process which created erroneous chip counts. The first was in the color-up of the gray 100-denomination chips and the second was with the buy-up of some of the orange 1,000 denomination chips to remove some chips from the tables. It appears that two stacks of orange were incorrectly being paid with four pink 5,000-denomination chips, which caused a 20,000 chip discrepancy.

The staff acted very quickly in reaction to the problem and went to the security tapes to review the process. In that time they believe they corrected all of the errors that were made.

It's Good to Be David Williams

David Williams
David Williams
The pot was already healthy on a flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds} when David Williams moved all in for his last 117,000 and William Thorson made the call for his last chips.

Thorson showed {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for top pair with straight and flush draws, as Williams held the lead with {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for the rockets.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and river the {9-Hearts}, missing Thorson and sending him to the rail. Williams rockets up to 470,000 chips.

Talebi Toast as Ladines Triples

Joshua Ladines was down to his last 24,000 after a clash with John Hanson but just managed a triple up to get himself back to around 70,000.

The three-way all in saw Ladines {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} up against Matt Graham {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} with Rodeen Talebi also committing his last chips with {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{A-Clubs} and Ladines makes a flush to triple up while Graham wins the side pot with a set of aces. Talebi couldn't connect with the board and was eliminated.

Caught In The Cookie Jar

After betting the flop and checking the turn, John Hanson followed up with a 35,000 chip bet on the river on a board of {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}.

His opponent was Jonas Entin who went into the tank for a long time before finally making the call.

Hanson insta-mucked and Entin showed {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} to collect a nice pot.

Hanson slips to 115,000 with Entin now behind a commanding 380,000 chips.
