Angry Elimination

Remember how I said each elimination takes on more and more significance as we get closer and closer to the bubble? We just lost a player in 47th place (45 paid). He stood up from his seat and let fly an f-bomb. Then a second f-bomb, a little louder. Then he shouted a third and started moving towards the exit. About halfway to the door he let fly a vehement, very loud f-bomb.

Parker Crashes

Parker - wins Best Dressed competition though
Parker - wins Best Dressed competition though
Paul Parker raised from the cutoff and Danny Smith re-popped from the button. "Oh good," said Parker as James Dempsey approached the table, "You're just in time to see me double up again."

It was not to be, though -- he got the last of his chips in on the turn, and was good -- but the river binked for Smith, and Parker is bust.

Parker: {3-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {A-Hearts}
Smith: {10-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {2-Spades} {A-Clubs}

Board: {4-Spades} {6-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

Oh Mickey!

Each elimination becomes more painful the closer we get to the money. With less than one table remaining until the bubble bursts, Mickey Appleman went out. It took a few hands. The killer hand was on a board of {10-Spades} {9-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts}, with Appleman calling bets on the turn and river to be shown his opponent's full house, {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}.

That loss crippled Appleman to 3,000. After getting a few chips back in a six-way pot, Appleman was eliminated by Jason Riesenberg in a three-way pot. Risenberg showed down {2-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}, a scooper of a hand that nicely matched a board of {A-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts}.

Riesenberg is up to 80,000.

Schock a Mark'd Man

Mark Gregorich versus Mitch Schock again, and now Schock's in some trouble...

Gregorich raised preflop and Schock called out of the small blind.

Schock check-called the bet from Gregorich on the {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} {4-Clubs} flop and again on the {6-Spades} turn; come the {5-Hearts} river, though, Schock just check-folded instead.

Schock: lying in the gutter on 19,000
Gregorich: looking at the stars on 93,000

Farzad Frazzled

Pescatori - no fish
Pescatori - no fish
Last year's O8/S8 champion Farzad Rouhani is bust, the victim of the Italian pirate Max Pescatori.

We didn't quite catch the hand, but our attention was drawn to the table when Rouhani mucked his cards with such vehemence that one of them flew off the table.

Pescatori's up to 98,000, arrr.

Mitch Gets a Schock

Mark Gregorich raised only for Mitch Schock to reraise; Gregorich called and they saw a {2-Spades} {6-Hearts} {J-Spades} flop.

Gregorich check-called a bet from Schock, and then bet out on the {7-Spades} turn and again on the {5-Spades} river; both times Schock called. Gregorich tabled {A-Clubs} {3-Spades} {10-Spades} {2-Spades} for a flush and the nut low, and it was presumably good to scoop the pot as Schock just mucked.

Schock: down to 40,000
Gregorich: up to 72,000

Waggoner Trying to Squeak By

It's a tough spot for Marsha Waggoner. She's down to 12,000 after being quartered by Patrice Boudet. Boudet showed {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {9-Spades} {J-Hearts} on a board of {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Boudet's heart flush and nut-low was better than Waggoner's {A-Spades} {2-Spades} {7-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, which only made the nut low. Waggoner got one-quarter and dropped to a dangerous 12,000. Boudet is on 129,000.

Hua Check-Calls to Losing Hand

Sitting in the big blind, Ck Hua called a preflop raise from Paul Darden. He then check-called a bet on every street of the {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} board. At showdown Darden showed {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} for a full house, aces full of eights.

Hua has lots of chips, though, so it wasn't much of a hit for him. He's still at 112,000. Darden is up to 58,000.
