Thang Luu Gone

All of the players in the tournament can breathe a sigh of relief. Thang Luu, the plyer who won back-to-back Omaha bracelets in 2008 and 2009, has been eliminated from the tournament.

Luu's demise came largely at the hand of Pat Poels. Poels raised preflop from under the gun and was called only by Luu from the small blind. Luu check-called one bet on the {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} flop. When the turn fell {Q-Diamonds}, Luu checked again. The two players wound up getting in four bets each by the time all of the action was done.

Luu led the river {7-Spades}, then called a last raise from Poels. Luu's flopped set of fours, {4-?} {4-?} {5-?} {6-?}, were overtaken by Poels' turned set of queens, {A-?} {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {q-?}. That hand left Luu with just 3,000 chips; he was out one hand later.

Poels is up to 71,500.
