Hellmuth Chipping Back Up

Phil Hellmuth opened to 4,200 from the button and found some action out of the small blind.

The flop of {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{J-Spades} was checked through by both players, as was the {8-Spades} on the turn.

"You know I only win half the pot always," said Hellmuth after firing 3,200 on the river of the {2-Diamonds}.

His opponent mucked and Hellmuth climbed to 48,000 in chips.

Friedman Soars to 150,000

We caught the action on the flop of {4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} with three players all in.

Perry Friedman: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Warren Windham: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Unknown Player: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}

The turn and river fell the {2-Diamonds} and {9-Diamonds} to see Friedman scoop the pot to soar to 151,000. Windham was left with only 45,000 while the other player involved hit the rail.

Five More Hands

The Tournament Director has announced that there are only five hands remaining on each table for the night.

With nine players until we reached the 81-player mark and continuation until the money, it will be a race to either five hands or nine bustouts!

That's a Wrap!

It's been a long day in the Amazon room, and after a gruelling ten hours of poker, Event 48 - $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo has come to an end.

762 players took to the felt to battle it out, but at the end of the day only 87 would survive through to Day 2.

Everyone from the young guns Jason Mercier, Justin Young and Terrence Chan to the seasoned veterans Berry Johnston, Allen Cunningham and Kathy Liebert turned out, as did the amateurs with high hopes and dreams.

But at the end of the day, many of them would not experience the pleasurable feeling of bagging their chips for a return.

When it was all said and done, Perry Friedman sits on top with a healthy 144,500 in chips and is trailed closely by Brandon Cantu (105,000) and Rodeen Talebi (93,000). Lee Markholt (26,600) and Lee Watkinson (24,700) still remain, along with Phil Hellmuth (43,000).

Play kicks off tomorrow at 2:00pm local time, so make sure to catch all the live coverage from PokerNews as we update you on every chopped pot, counterfeited low and mega-wrap!
