Boost for Smith

Justin "Boosted J" Smith
Justin "Boosted J" Smith
Omaha-8

After heavy preflop action Justin "Boosted J" Smith fired a bet on a flop of {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Gabe Kaplan called in the cutoff and Hassan Habib came along on the button.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and Smith fired again with another bet. Again both opponents made the call.

The river brought the {4-Diamonds} and Smith fired a third barrel to force a fold from Kaplan but Habib looked him up.

Smith tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for trip kings which was good as Habib mucked. Smith is now up to a commanding 251,000 chips.

Hansen Has the Better Two Pair

Stud-8

Gus Hansen (X)(X){K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts} (X)
Phil Ivey (X)(X) {7-Spades} {3-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} (X)

We picked the hand up on fourth street, Hansen check-calling a bet from Ivey. Hansen did the same on fifth street. Ivey made an open pair of sevens on sixth and led out, Hansen making the call. Ivey also bet the river and Hansen called.

Ivey showed {3-?} {6-?} for sixes and threes, but Hansen had the better two pair with {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {4-Clubs} in the hole for aces and kings. Neither player made a low and Hansen scooped the pot.

Some Razzle Dazzle from Elezra

Razz

Elezra: (X-X) {A-?}{2-?}{6-?}{Q-?}
Seed: (X-X) {8-?}{5-?}{4-?}{A-?}

Eli Elezra had to run to his seat just in the nick of time to complete the betting on third street as Huck Seed had limped into the pot.

Seed called, and Elezra then fired bets on fourth and fifth street before Seed led out with a bet on sixth. Despite bricking, Elezra wasn't deterred as he put in a raise. Seed appeared to have a strong board but released his hand as Elezra took down a nice pot without showdown. He'll head to dinner with around 175,000 chips.

Perry Quads It Up

Ralph Perry has just collected a nice pot during Stud-8. We didn't catch the action, but Perry was raking in the chips after making quad sevens to scoop against $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. champ James Van Alstyne.

Perry is now up to 153,500 chips and wanted us to give a shout out to his son Sean back home.

Nut-Nut for Max

Omaha-8

On a flop of {9-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds}, Bryan Colin checked from the big blind, Tony G bet out from early position, Max Pescatori called and Colin called. The turn came the {7-Clubs} and Colin checked to Tony G, who bet. Pescatori called and Colin called. The river was the {8-Diamonds}. Everyone checked to Pescatori, who bet. Colin called and after a bit of a think, Tony G gave up his hand.

Pescatori turned over {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} for the nut low and the nut flush to win the pot.
