Oodles of Chips for Rahman

Just before the break, we caught a piece of an all-in hand right in front of our table in the green section. On the turn, the board showed {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {3-Spades} {8-Spades}, and one player moved all in. Samer Rahman was in there too with the covering stack, and he turned over {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} for middle set. His opponent had flopped a set too, but his {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts} had him in bad shape. The river was a blank {10-Spades}, and Rahman claimed the knockout. He's up to 195,000 now.

An Early Break Present for Boutin

Burt Bourtin opened preflop for 1,200. He was called only by the player in the big blind. The flop was very dry, {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. Boutin followed up his preflop raise with a flop bet of 2,200. Boutin called.

When the turn fell {10-Spades}, Boutin fired again, this time for 4,400. He induced a fold to collect that pot and flashed the {10-Diamonds} as he did so. Boutin is up to 64,000.

Sexton Makes Three Pair

Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton
Mike Sexton raised to 1,100 first in from the cutoff seat, and the player next to him reraised to 3,800. Sexton made the call, and the heads-up flop came {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. Both players checked to see the {7-Clubs} hit the turn. Sexton bet this time, and his opponent called 3,500. Both players checked again when the {8-Diamonds} fell on the river.

Sexton tabled {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} for three pair, but only the queens and nines counted, and it was good. His opponent showed {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} and the dealer mucked his ace high. Sexton is up to 49,000.

Brunson Loses a Little More at the Break

In his last hand before the break, Todd Brunson limped from under the gun before calling the big blind's raise to 1,500.

Both players checked down to the river on a board of {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} before the big blind finally led out for 1,000. Brunson called and mucked when his opponent showed {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for the flush. Brunson finished the level with 26,500.
