Hot Dang!

Hac Dang has knocked out another player and expanded his stack to 234,000.

The soon-to-be-busted player raised to 2,500 and Dang called. He bet 6,000 on the {6-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {2-Spades} flop, and Dang called that too. He bet 20,000 on the {8-Hearts} turn, and this time Dang put him all in for another 20,000. The gentleman called, and found that his {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} were beaten by Dang's {7-Hearts} {8-Clubs}. No re-suck on the {5-Diamonds} river, and the gent with kings hit the rail.

Going All in to See Where You're At?

Okay, here's one for the strange but true folder.

A player in late position had raised and Kevin "BeL0WaB0Ve" Saul called from the button, as did the big blind. The flop then came {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. The big blind checked, and the preflop raiser surprisingly shoved all in for 116,700.

Saul had only 8,000 more than that, and so had to give it a think before finally announcing he was calling. The big blind folded, and Saul showed {J-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the flush.

His opponent's cards? {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and the river the {2-Hearts}, and another player has hit the rail. After suffering through the early going today with the short stack, Saul is now way up to 246,000.

Eastgate Survives

Peter Eastgate, who continually stole blinds to get himself back up to 16,000 has just doubled up to about 34,000 after he pushed with {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} against a button raiser's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} but caught better on the {8-Spades} {7-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} board to make a straight.

Big Hand, Modest Pot for Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth
That's right. We used the words "modest" and "Hellmuth" in close proximity there.

Phil Hellmuth had a terrific start today, boosting his below average stack up to 140,000 within the first two levels. He then settled back around the 120,000-chip mark and has been there for most of the day. We just now caught an intriguing hand in which the Poker Brat was involved.

A player in middle position bet 2,700, and Hellmuth, sitting to his left, made the call. The blinds folded, and the flop came {9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The raiser continued with a bet of 4,700, and Hellmuth wasted little time calling.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, pairing the board. This time Hellmuth's opponent checked. Hellmuth sat up straight, rechecked his cards, looked to his right at his opponent, then gathered some chips. Finally he tossed out a smallish bet of 4,800, and his opponent called.

The river was the {9-Spades}, provoking a "oooh" from the crowd. Hellmuth's opponent again checked, and this time Hellmuth pushed out 12,000. His opponent rechecked his cards, then folded.

Hellmuth then flipped his cards face up to the dealer -- {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} -- provoking a louder response from the crowd.

As we move towards the last half-hour of play for the night, Hellmuth has about 135,000.

Hal-Lo, Goodbye

With 45,000 in the pot by the river of the {K-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {A-Spades} {10-Spades} board, Nick Binger bet 50,000, enough to cover Hal Lubarsky. Lubarsky called all in for his last 20,000 or so, but mucked when Binger turned over {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}.

Binger up to 156,000.

Cyndy Violette Eliminated

Cyndy Violette has been knocked out after flopping top two pair with {Q-?} {9-?} on a {Q-?} {9-?} {3-?} board against a player who had decided to slowplay {K-?} {K-?} preflop. All the money went in on the flop but the turn {3-?} left Violette drawing needing a {Q-?} or a {9-?} which didn't come on the {2-?} river
