Carlos Mortensen Eliminated

Carlos Mortensen - busto
Carlos Mortensen - busto
We spent a fair amount of time today admiring Carlos Mortensen's chip sculture. Unfortunately for Mortensen it was mostly made out of black (100) chips. Our last pass by Mortensen's table in the front left section of the Brasilia Room revealed an empty seat where Mortensen and his chip creation used to be. We have come to the conclusion that Mortensen has been eliminated.

Boyd Clipped

Boyd slipping
Boyd slipping
With around 14,000 in the middle and a {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop spread, Dutch Boyd led out for 6,000 with his lone opponent making the call.

The turn landed the {7-Spades} and with a dark-check ahead of him, Boyd fired 12,000 at the pot. Again his opponent made the call, and when the {A-Spades} fell on the turn; he checked once again.

Boyd sat thinking for a while before leading out with an 18,000-chip bet, which was again called by his opponent.

Boyd firstly flashed the {7-Diamonds} and was followed by his opponent tabling {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Boyd mucked his other card while slipping to 72,000 chips in the process.

Hinkle Hurt

Blair Hinkle is down to 170,000 after losing a big pot where he found {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} in the big blind against the small blind's {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}.

The board of {4-Spades} {9-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} was enough to seal his opponent's double through.

Soulier Makes Jacks Work

Fabrice Soulier has been a quiet presence in the Brasilia Room today. Since starting the day with 145,800 chips he hasn't been able to do much at all.

He did just take down a small pot against one opponent. With 45,000 in the middle, Soulier made a suspiciously small bet of 9,000 on the river of a {8-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {7-Spades} {2-Spades} {10-Diamonds} board. Soulier's opponent decided to look him up and regretted that decision when Soulier showed {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} for a jack-high straight.

Soulier is sitting behind 83,000 chips. Despite the fact that we're now in Level 12, that's not all that short. Soulier still has 41 big blinds.

Tardea Takes One from Hougaard

Christian Tardea opened to 5,600 from middle position and Jesper Hougaard made it 15,200 from the hijack.

Tardea made the call before checking the {K-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop to Hougaard, who opted to fire with a 13,500-chip bet. Tardea made the call and when the {5-Diamonds} landed on the turn, he checked the action once more.

Hougaard sat in the tank for near on four minutes before cutting down a bet amounting to 43,000. Tardea made the call and both players checked the {3-Spades} on the river.

Tardea tabled his {A-Spades}{K-Spades} for a flopped set of trips, and the pot, as he climbed to 495,000 while Hougaard slips to 359,000 in chips.

Greg Raymer Eliminated

Greg "FossilMan" Raymer

Facing a single pre-flop raise, Greg Raymer moved all in for about 80,000 and his opponent made the call.

Raymer's {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} needed some serious help against his opponent's {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, but he couldn't find it on the {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {5-Spades} board.

Before departing the table, however, Raymer took the shiny fossil he'd been using as a card capper and graciously signed it for the player who busted him.

Morrison Busts Suharto

Kirk Morrison told us about a hand he just played against Darus Suharto. Morrison said he was in the blind with {A-Spades}{K-Spades} when Suharto open-shoved. He called and was ahead of Suharto's {A-?}{J-?}.

Morrison connected with a king on the flop and Suharto couldn't catch up as the board bricked out, sending him to the rail. Morrison is up to 160,000 after the hand.

Ivey Busts Another

After Richard Fohrenbach moved all in for 25,800 from under the gun, the action folded around to Phil Ivey who reraised on the button. The blinds folded and the cards were tabled.

Fohrenbach: {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Ivey: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Ivey's hand held to eliminate Fohrenbach. Ivey is now up to 430,000 chips.

Frog No Chicken

One Frenchman who's having a very good day indeed is Ludovic Lacay.

With a fair few chips in the pot pre, Lacay and one other gentleman saw a {3-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} flop and Mr. Gentleman bet in the region of 30,000. He soon laid his hand down to a 200,000 reraise from Lacay which would have put him all in though.

The floppy-haired Frenchman is now up to 420,000.
