Will Mitchell Doubles Up

Will Mitchell, dressed in a white ChipMeUp cap, recently doubled up his short stack to get a spot of breathing room. Mitchell's {A-?} {Q-?} out-flopped an opponent's {A-?} {K-?} by catching a queen on the flop. That pair of queens held up through the river to increase Mitchell's count to 43,000.

Gobbo Getting Creative

Jimmy Fricke must have felt like he was in a good spot to try to catch the right flop. After an early-position player raised to 3,200 and was called in two spots, Fricke decided to call as well, with position on all other players. The flop came down {9-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {J-Spades}. There was one check from the pre-flop raiser and then a bet of 10,000 from the next player to act. Only Fricke called.

Both players checked the {2-Spades} turn. The river was a repeater, the {2-Hearts}. Fricke's opponent checked. Fricke made a bet of 16,000. His opponent wasn't happy to call but did anyway. He was even less happy when Fricke showed {J-Hearts} {6-Hearts} for two pair, jacks and deuces. It was the winner.

Fricke is up to about 150,000.

Justin Young Takes Out a Player

Justin Young called the all in of a very short stacked player while holding {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. He was slightly ahead of the {J-Clubs} {7-Hearts} of his opponent going to the flop.

The board came {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} giving Young a flush and the hand to eliminate his opponent.

Jesper Jets Ahead

Jesper Hougaard, winner of both a WSOP bracelet and a WSOPE bracelet in 2008, had tangled with Philip Starner earlier in the day.

In one of the first hands of the level, Hougaard had opened with a raise to 3,200 from the hijack, and Starner called from the button. The flop came {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and both checked. The turn was the {7-Clubs}, Hougaard bet 4,500, and Starner called. The river brought the {A-Diamonds}. Hougaard checked, Starner bet 8,000, and after a long pause Hougaard let it go.

Just now came another hand involving the two. After a {Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, Starner had bet, Hougaard raised from the button, Starner reraised 13,500 more, then Hougaard went ahead and repopped it to 100,000 -- more than what Starner had left behind. Starner thought a bit, then called. Hougaard flipped over {8-Spades} {8-Clubs}. "That's good," said Starner, turning over {9-Spades}{7-Spades}.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and the river the {2-Hearts}, and Starner is out. Hougaard is now up to 245,000.

De Wolfe Eliminated

Roland de Wolfe was all in preflop against an opponent holding pocket sixes. De Wolfe had two overs with {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. The ESPN cameras rushed over to capture the action as the board ran out {J-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {6-Spades} {2-Hearts}. De Wolfe was eliminated on the hand.

Portal Runs Into Rockets

Alexia Portal
Alexia Portal
Well known French actress, Alexia Portal has taken an early hit after making the preflop call against a short-stacked player who had shoved all in.

Portal tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} but her opponent showed the rockets - {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}!

The flop gave Portal some glimmer of hope when it arrived {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. However the {6-Hearts} on the turn and {10-Spades} on the river gave her opponent the double up. Portal is back down to 75,000.

Big Stacks Get Bigger

An excellent start for Pat O'Malley when he found himself looking at an {8-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {3-Spades} board, and his opponent all in. O'Malley called with {9-Hearts} {10-Hearts} for a straight, his opponent could only boast {J-?} {Q-?} for top pair, and O'Malley is up to 330,000.

Schoenfeld Takes a Stand

The current chipleader, Amir Lehavot, raised from the small blind to 3,900 total. Adam Schoenfeld made the call from the big blind.

Lehavot checked the flop of {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades}, Schoenfeld then made a pot sized bet of 12,000, Lehavot raised to 30,000. Schoenfeld thought for a minute before going all in for 55,000 more, Lehavot folded.

"Bankrolls on Swoll," touted Schoenfeld who is sitting on 132,000. Lehavot is at 585,000.

Khan't Win Every Pot

Hevad Khan is on 83,000 at the moment, perfectly respectable but he just raised {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} from UTG to 3,000 before UTG+1 made it 12,000 next to him. Khan showed his hand, folded and was shown...{A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}
