Balmigere Butchers Buchman

Eric Buchman just saw nearly two-thirds of his chips shipped across the table and land in Francois Balmigere's stack. Buchman took his {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} up against Balmigere's {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}, the board running out {Q-Spades} {9-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {9-Diamonds} to send Balmigere's chip count up to 2,280,000. Buchman was left with 540,000.

Jensen Over Soulier

Fabrice Soulier opened for 90,000 from the button, and Benjamin Jensen called from the big blind.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Jensen checked, Soulier bet 110,000, and Jensen called. The turn was the {A-Hearts}, and both players checked.

The river brought the {2-Spades}. This time Jensen bet 200,000, and Soulier made the call. Jensen showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for trip aces, and Soulier mucked.

Jensen has 2.4 million now, while Soulier has 2.17 million.

Nice Flop for Martin

In the last hand before the break, Antoine Saout raised to 90,000 from the button, and John Martin called from the small blind. The flop came {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Martin checked, Saout raised to 155,000, and Martin made the call.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds}. Martin checked again, Saout bet 330,000, then Martin shoved all in for 1.733 total.

By now all of the other players had left the table, leaving just Saout, Martin, and the dealer. Saout thought in silence for a couple of minutes. Finally he folded, showing his {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} as he did. Martin showed his hand, too -- {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

Martin is up to 2.67 million, and Saout still has a healthy stack of 5.05 million.

Newman Runs Out Rusnak

Frank Rusnak - Out
Frank Rusnak - Out
Just before the break...

Clayton Newman opened the pot with a raise to 80,000, and he found two callers on down the line. The flop came out {6-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts}. Newman fired 175,000 at the pot, and this time only Frank Rusnak came along with the call.

Heads up then, the turn brought the {4-Diamonds}. Newman moved all in for a healthy 960,000, sending Rusnak deep into the tank. With the break clock already ticking down, it would take several more minutes for him to make his decision. Finally, he very quietly announced, "I call," committing his final ~650,000 chips to the pot.

Showdown
Newman: {Q-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}
Rusnak: {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

Newman was well ahead with his top pair and the flush draw, and the {7-Hearts} on the river locked up the pot. Frank Rusnak has been eliminated, and Newman moves up to 3.2 million in chips.

Buchman Bounces Back

Brian Powell raised to 105,000 from the cutoff, then Eric Buchman pushed all in from the button for 555,000 total. The blinds skedaddled, and Powell made the call.

Powell showed {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Buchman {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. The flop came {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and Buchman had a flush draw. The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, and Buchman was down to his last card. The river brought the {10-Clubs}, giving Buchman the flush and the pot.

Buchman now has 1.2 million, and Powell falls to 960,000.
