Jamie Robbins Doubles Through Jesse Haabak

Jesse Haabak opened for 150,000 from the cutoff, Jamie Robbins raised to 385,000 from the small blind, Haabak four-bet shoved and Robbins made the call.

Robbins {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}
Haabak {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts}

The flop was a sweat-tastic {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {5-Clubs}, Haabak picking up the nut flush draw. The turn was the {2-Spades}, the river was the {8-Diamonds} and Robbins' jacks held up to double his stack to 3,580,000. Haaabak is down to 1,570,000.

Fair Re-Raises Twice

Ryan Fair

Antonio Esfandiari opened with a raise to 135,000, and Ryan Fair was having none of it. From the next seat over, he re-raised to 365,000. The table slowly folded back around to The Magician, and he put in a third raise to 840,000. Fair wasted little time grabbing for chips, and he made yet another raise, 1,665,000 straight. In concert, the entire featured table arena let out a collective, "Ooooooh."

That was the end of the drama though, as Esfandiari shook his head and sent his cards muckward.

Miika Puumalainen Eliminated in 59th Place ($108,047)

Miika Puumalainen - 59th Place
Miika Puumalainen - 59th Place
It took two hands to eliminate Miika Puumalainen from this year's Main Event, but they came in rapid succession. It was the first hand that was most damaging.

Action folded to Puumalainen in the small blind. He limped into the pot in front of big blind Francois Balmigere, who raised to 150,000. Puumalainen's response was to shove all in for about 2.3 million chips. Balmigere gave the matter a few moments' thought and then called all in for slightly less, about 2.15 million.

Puumalainen: {A-Spades} {3-Diamonds}
Balmigere: {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

The board rolled out {8-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {8-Spades} {k-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}. That was no help for Puumalainen, crippling him to about 105,000. Those chips went in on the next hand with {7-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} after Craig Boyd opened for 125,000 with {K-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. Once again the board was no help for Puumalainen, and this time he was not left with any chips. He's out.

Shulman Not Camera Shy

Jeff Shulman has come into the secondary feature table very aggressively. He hasn't been scared to open pots and drive the action. So far, Shulman's raised about a third of the hands at this table. His opponents aren't fighting back much either and he's increasing his stack nicely.

Bach in Black

Christopher Bach open-pushed all in for 1.22 million from late position, and Fabrice Soulier, who had Bach covered, reraised all in from the small blind to isolate. The big blind folded, Soulier showed {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, and Bach {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, and Bach suddenly went from way behind to way ahead. The turn was the {A-Spades} and the river the {8-Hearts}, and Bach is back up to 2.56 million. Soulier slips to 1.7 million after that one.

Benjamin Jensen Eliminated in 60th Place ($108,047)

Benjamin Jensen - 60th Place

James Calderaro made a button raise to 130,000, Benjamin Jensen moved all in for 1.3 million from the small blind, and Calderaro made the call.

Jensen {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}
Calderaro {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}

Calderaro's kings held up on the {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} board and Jensen found his Main Event at an end.

After the hand, Calderaro was up to 3,000,000 in chips.

Tamayo Loses One

Form the button, Jonathan Tamayo raised to 130,000 and Jason Brice called out of the big blind. The flop came down {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} and Brice checked. Tamayo fired 180,000 and Brice called.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and Brice checked again. Tamayo checked behind.

The river brought the {J-Clubs} and Brice fired out 175,000. Tamayo mucked his hand, giving Brice the pot.

"Face Up"

John Martin opened with a raise to 150,000, Hieu Luu reraised to 375,000 behind him, and all folded back to Martin who made the call.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}, and both checked. The turn was the {Q-Clubs}. Martin checked, Luu bet 500,000, Martin reraised all in for 2.075 million, and Luu tanked a bit before folding.

"Face up or face down?" asked Martin of Luu afterwards, referring to whether or not he'd like to see Martin's hand. "Face up," said Luu, predictably. Martin showed {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

Martin has 3.85 million now, and Luu 4.75 million.

Mark Ader Eliminated in 61st Place ($108,047)

Mark Ader - 61st place
Mark Ader - 61st place
After paying his ante, Mark Ader was all in for 115,000 when he peeked down at {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. Warren Zackey would make the call, tabling {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} to put Ader in a bad way for his tournament life.

The board would provide salvation though, running out {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {5-Spades}. That river card improved him to the better aces up, locking up the pot and a crucial double up. Ader's just over 300,000 now, alive but still short.

*****

A few hands later, Ader would move again, shoving in for 310,000. Adam York gave him action, tabling {4-Clubs} {4-Spades}. Ader was in better shape for a potential double up this time, racing for his tournament life with {K-Spades} {7-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him though, the dealer would not cooperate, running out a blank board of {6-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. Failing to improve, Mark Ader is out in 61st place, earning a nice six-figure payday.

Condition Critical for Sebok

Joe Sebok has said that he hasn't had a good opening level on any day of this 2009 Main Event. Sebok needs a good opening level today if he hopes to make it to second level, but that appears less likely to happen after a confrontation with Nick Maimone.

Sebok opened to 125,000 and Maimone called from the button. On a flop of {9-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {2-Spades} Sebok had first action and bet 135,000. Maimone called. Both players checked the action down on the {3-Spades} turn and {7-Diamonds} river, with Maimone's {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} pair of aces taking the pot.

Sebok is down to 500,000 chips.
