Negreanu Gives Corkins Respect

Negreanu still scrapping.
Negreanu still scrapping.
A few tables away from Eric Brooks, Daniel Negreanu found himself in a similar situation. He led out sixth street with the best board, (X-X) / {Q-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {7-Spades}, only to see his lone opponent -- Hoyt Corkins -- raise (X-X) / {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}.

Negreanu studied Corkins' board. "Eight-nine?" he asked. Corkins just chomped on his trademark cigar. Whatever it was he did, it was enough for Negreanu to convince himself to fold.
