Jeremiah Smith Eliminated

A disastrous hour for Jeremiah Smith has ended with his elimination. He opened from under the gun for 6,200. Action folded to Jason Melnick on the button, who re-raised to 21,600. Smith shipped in his whole stack with {6-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and was snap-called by Melnick's {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. No help for either player on the board; a disgusted Smith left the tournament area without even receiving his payout slip.

Adios Awada

Joe Awada's tournament is over. He moved all in for 38,000 over the top of an open-raise to 6,100 by Allan Brown. Brown snap-called with {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}; Awada had to grimace as he turned over {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades}. There was no help for him anywhere on a board of {2-Diamonds} {k-Spades} {6-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Awada's out; Brown is up to 120,000.

Short Stack Death Battle

Alive to fight another day
Alive to fight another day
The two short stacks at the table, Doug Lee and Jerimiah Smith, have just gone toe-to-toe over two hands that ended up with one of them on the floor (not literally).

Round one went to Lee after his UTG all in for 11,600 was called by Smith in the BB. Lee tabled {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} to Smith's {Q-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. The board ran {3-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} to see Lee back to his corner with 28,000. Smith is a little bruised and battered but still in this with 30,000.

Round two saw Smith throw the first punch by moving all-in with {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} but Lee countered with a call all in with {A-?} {J-?}. The killer board of {Q-?} {5-?} {9-?} {J-?} {A-?} saw Lee knocked clean out but he went down fighting.

Smith patched up now and ready for more battle with 78,000.

Reinforce the Legs on Table 66!

Orange 66 is threatening to collapse under all the chips that have accumulated on that table. Bobby Firestone has 278,000; Bryce Yockey has 220,000; and a third player *had* 250,000.

We say *had* because he just doubled up Justin Young. It was a four-way raised pot with a flop that came down {7-Clubs} {k-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}. Action checked to Young, who bet 16,5000, about a third of his stack. Young's opponent asked how much Young was playing behind, then raised to 50,000.

"Ahhhh, I thought I had a plan for this hand," lamented Young once everyone else had folded. He hemmed and hawed a minute more before moving all in with {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. He was called by {k-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, a hand that was drawing once the {6-Clubs} hit the turn. Young needed to avoid a river club to win the pot and did so when the {7-Spades} fell. He doubled up to about 120,000.

Rod v Rob

Three players saw a {J-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} flop before Robert Toye moved all-in for 29,000. Rod Brown then reraised all in to isolate and it worked as the third player involved folded.

Toye showed {J-Spades} {9-Spades} for top two and Brown had {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} for the nut flush draw. Instant service on the turn as {10-Diamonds} appeared before the {8-Clubs} confirmed the winning hand.

Toye is eliminated, Brown on 159,000.

Mackoff Marks Gonsalves

Busted by a cruel river
Busted by a cruel river
Markus Gonsalves has just been eliminated by Jonas Mackoff. We're not sure how the action unfolded but Gonsalves got unlucky on the river of a {2-?} {8-?} {Q-?} {6-?} {5-?} board. He held {7-?} {7-?} but Mackoff held {5-?} {5-?} to scoop the massive pot.

Mackoff new chip leader on 365,000.
