Lots of Davids in this field. One of the David still remaining is David Daneshgar. He bet 6,900 on the turn of a board and was called by Praz Bansi.
The river came and brought a bet of 15,300 from Daneshgar. Bansi wasted no time in raising to 40,000. It was a raise that put Daneshgar deep into the thank. He stood up from the table, mumbled a few things to himself and to Bansi, then finally called. Bansi showed for trip fours.
"Sick river," muttered Daneshgar as he mucked. He has 50,000 chips now. Bansi is up to 140,000.
Charles Furey has just busted a player after making an all in call from Benjamin Gilbert on a flop holding . Gilbert held but missed on a turn and river.
Alan Sass raised from UTG and was called by chip leader David Fox on the button. They then proceeded to get it all in on a flop. Sass had and Fox had a drawing . The drawing didn't get there and Sass doubles to 102,600, Fox down to 220,000.
Poor David Squires. We feel bad for him after a recent brutality he suffered at the hand of Ramin Henke. We're not sure how the betting developed, but the board came . The last of the chips, about 93,000, went in there. Squires turned up for a flopped set of eights, but Henke turned up for a rivered set of aces.
Squires has just 14,000 chips left. Henke is up to 230,000.
Brent Berry is the latest player to join the throng on the rail. He was all in preflop against Bobby Firestone. Brent Berry barely had the best hand, , against Firestone's , but it was Firestone who emerged triumphant, . He's over two bills now, 215,000, while Berry is out.
We had a three-way raised pot as we went to a flop. The pre flop aggressor bet 7,000 when checked to him and both Peter Gould and the BB called before the action slowed right down. All three were content to check the turn and river. Gould turned over and both opponents folded.
Ludovic Lacay giggled at seeing Gould's hand. With no three bet pre flop you can see why it's hard to put him on that hand.
Stack consolidation continues apace in the Orange Section of the Amazon Room. Recent eliminations include a pair of Davids: David Gee and David Peters.
Gee went out at the hand of Joe Parille. Parille was facing an all-in raise of 25,000 preflop from Gee. He opted to call with ; Gee turned over . As these things go, three-to-one is a decent edge to have but that "one time" comes more often than you'd like. It was Parille's time this hand, with a board of giving him a wheel and the victory.
A few tables away, David Peters succumbed to the wildly resurgent David Baker in another preflop all-in confrontation. Baker tabled the best hand, , against the of Peters. Cue up the board: . Game, set and match for Baker. Peters is out.
Baker, by the way started the day with 25,700 and is now up to about 260,000. Most impressive.
I just got chatting to Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad on the rail. The online and live poker phenomenon isn't 20 years old for a couple more months but has come out to be a part of the WSOP craziness. Without being able to play I feel she's taking that frustration out on the local shopping malls!
Watch out next year Las Vegas as it wouldn't surprise me if she's amongst the headline makers.
