Todd Barlow Eliminated in 10th Place ($38,676)

Todd Barlow
Todd Barlow

Cassidy: {k-Clubs} {k-Hearts} / {5-Spades} {5-Hearts} {j-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} / {10-Spades}
Evdakov: (X) (X) / {a-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {q-Spades} / (X)
Barlow: {9-} {9-} / {j-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} / {3-}

A big three-way pot, complete with some controversy, spelled the end of the tournament for Todd Barlow. Joe Cassidy brought it in on third street in front of Nikolay Evdakov, who completed. Barlow and Cassidy both called.

On fourth street, Cassidy double-bet his open fives to 24,000. Evdakov called before Barlow announced raise. He seemed not to realize that a double-bet was on board and tried to raise to 36,000, leaving himself 2,000 behind. A floor was eventually summoned who ruled Barlow to be all in. Cassidy then asked if he could raise and the floor said yes, because Barlow's raise was more than half of the required amount.

Cassidy raised to 62,000, drawing howls of protest from non-English speaker Nikkolay Evdakov. No fewer than three people (including me) were trying to explain to him in Russian why the raise was allowed, but Evdakov was having none of it. Finally the floor told him that the raise was to 62,000 and he needed to act on his hand. Evdakov called.

Cassidy bet fifth and sixth streets, with Evdakov calling each time. At the river the action was checked down. Cassidy showed two pair, kings and fives. Evdakov didn't want to open his hand but was instructed to do so because of Barlow's all in. He showed a small pair and a busted straight draw before mucking.

Cassidy sighed as he showed his unimproved nines. "I had a feeling I should fold," he said. Be that as it may, he's the 10th-place finisher.

A Sirious Slide

Sirious Jamshidi has taken a couple of hits in recent times, after folding on sixth street to pressure from Steve Billirakis, before unsuccessfully going to showdown against Michael Mizrachi.

Men Nguyen completed, Mizrachi called and Jamshidi came along after bringing in. On fourth, Nguyen checked, Mizrachi fired a bet, Jamshidi called and Nguyen folded. Jamshidi check-called on fifth and sixth before both players checked it down on seventh.

Jamshidi: (X-X-X) / {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Nguyen: (X-X) / {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Mizrachi: {9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} / {9-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Mizrachi had straight and flush draws but could only manage a pair of nines but that was enough as Jamshidi mucked his hand. He's down to 440,000.

Russian Charge

Nikolay Evdakov and Vladimir Schmelev are ruling Orange 336 with an iron fist right now. Schmelev just tagged Joe Cassidy in a big pot, getting two bets in on sixth street and on seventh street. Cassidy's aces and fives were no good against Schmelev's three nines.

A few hands later, Todd Barlow went all the way with (X) (X) / {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {a-Clubs} / (X) against Evdakov's (X) (X) / {j-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {2-Spades} / (X). Facing a bet at the river, Barlow sighed and said, "Alright you got it. I had diamonds and had to go all the way." He mucked.

Barlow is the shortest stack now with 45,000. Schmelev is first to a million, with 1,040,000. And Evdakov has chipped all the way up to 870,000.

When You're Hot...

Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams

Brandon Adams' incredible run this afternoon continues as he has just cracked the rolled up kings of Michael Mizrachi.

Mizrachi: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}(X) / {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Adams: {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} / {9-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{4-Spades}{A-Spades}

Adams made an ace-high flush on the river as Mizrachi couldn't fill up. Adams is now up to 530,000 after starting the day with just 115,000. Mizrachi slips to 360,000.

Ray Dehkharghani Eliminated in 11th Place ($32,909)

Ray Dehkharghani, 11th place
Ray Dehkharghani, 11th place

Ray Dehkharghani was first crippled and then eliminated following a huge clash with Brandon Adams on table 337.

Dehkharghani completed the action with the {4-Spades} before Adams raised. Dehkharghani made the call, and again on fourth, before taking the lead on fifth and sixth. When the river was dealt, Dehkharghani checked, Adams bet and Dehkharghani tanked for a long time before calling.

Dehkharghani: (X-X-X) / {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Adams: {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} / {J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Adams made trips jacks which was good as Dehkharghani sighed and mucked.

A few moments later Dehkharghani's last chips were in the middle on third street with Adams making a queen-high flush. Dehkharghani was only showing a pair of threes before the river was even dealt to leave him drawing dead as he departed the Amazon Room in 11th place for $32,909.

Adams is hot this afternoon as he jumps to 400,000 chips.

Ice Down Your Pants Will Wake You Up

Heimiller: (X) (X) / {3-Clubs} {a-Spades} {4-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} / (X)
Evdakov: (X) (X) / {7-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {J-Hearts} {3-Hearts} / (X)

Dan Heimiller got a rude awakening during a hand against Nikolay Evdakov. Heimiller brought it in, then called Evdakov's completion. Heimiller had the lead on fourth and on fifth street. He check-called fourth; he check-raised fifth, just as a cocktail waitress returned to his table with a cup of tomato juice and a cup of ice. She spilled the cup of ice down the back of Heimiller's pants, giving him quite a start.

Evdakov called the raise and caught an open pair of treys on sixth street. He bet those treys and was called by the newly-awake Heimiller. Down the river, Evakov bet again. Heimiller tanked for about a minute before folding.

Evdakov is up to 755,000. Heimiller is getting short with just 132,000.

Eric Buchman Eliminated in 12th Place ($32,909)

Eric Buchman - 12th place
Eric Buchman - 12th place

In two short hands, Eric Buchman busted out of the tournament.

Hand No. 1

Evdakov: {a-Hearts} {a-Diamonds} / {4-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {q-Hearts}
Buchman: (X) (X) / {4-Hearts} {3-Spades} {3-Hearts} {4-Clubs}

Buchman had to bring it in on third street, then opted to raise after Nikolay Evdakov completed. Evdakov called to fourth street, where he bet after Buchman checked. Buchman called to fifth street, where he made open nines. He bet those nines, but Evdakov raised with open treys. Buchman called to sixth street. He made a second open pair but seemed to sense that his hand wasn't good enough. He checked, then made a frustrated fold to Evdakov's bet. Evdakov showed buried aces.

Hand No. 2

Buchman: {4-Spades} {4-Clubs} / {q-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} / {K-Spades}
Schmelev: {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} / {10-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} / {q-Spades}

Down to about 35,000, Buchman completed on third street and was called only by chip leader Vladimir Schmelev. Buchman continued on fourth street and was called again. That left Buchman with 7,000 behind. Schmelev made open eights on fifth street and bet. A frustrated Buchman thought for about twenty seconds before dejectedly tossing his last chips into the pot. He had buried fours and never improved.

Buchman is gone in 12th place.

Adams Doubles Through Mizrachi

Brandon Adams is off to a nice start today with an early double up at the expense of Michael Mizrachi.

Catching the action on fourth street, Adams led out before Mizrachi raised. Adams called before the last of his chips went in on fifth street.

Adams: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} / {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} / {10-Hearts}
Mizrachi: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} / {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} / {6-Clubs}

Mizrachi could only make one pair as Adams had to sweat his river. He had plenty of outs and managed to spike a Broadway straight which was more than enough to double through to 150,000.

The next hand Mizrachi tangled in a pot with Men Nguyen who made a full house to better the flush of Mizrachi. He's now back down under 400,000 chips.

Early Action on Table 336

Table 336 is Eric Buchman's table, and he has been liberally completing the bring-in to start the day. So far, if Buchman has received any resistance, he has almost immediately shut down. It helped that Joe Cassidy, seated two to Buchman's left, was ten minutes late to arrive. Cassidy just took his seat, however, creating one more player at the table for Buchman's completion bets to get through.
