Smith Doubles Through Phillips

Austin McCormick limped from under the gun and Michael Smith raised all in to 390,000. Nicholas "ISpewChips" Phillips called from the small blind and McCormick folded.

Showdown
Smith: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Phillips: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} flop pushed Smith in the lead, but Phillips still had outs.

The {K-Clubs} on the turn eliminated back-door outs, and Phillips couldn't find a queen or jack on the river, rather it was the {5-Diamonds}. Smith doubled to 815,000 chips and Phillips dropped to 910,000.

Quads are Good

After a series of preflop raises, David Randall and Marvin Rettenmaier took a flop of {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Rettenmaier led out for a bet and Randall called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and this time Rettenmaier checked to Randall who bet. Rettenmaier called, creating a pot of about 600,000 by this point.

The river was the {4-Hearts} and Randall led big; 340,000 chips. Rettenmaier tanked for a very long time, staring at Randall. Finally he leaned back, sighed and called.

"Quads," Randall announced.

Rettenmaier mucked, slipping to 580,000 chips. Randall now sits with 1,760,000 chips.

Indeed Rettenmaier opened {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and

Big Stacks Clash

Tom Dwan and Nicholas "ISpewChips" Phillips are one, two in chips, but that doesn't mean they're afraid to butt heads.

Dwan opened to 62,000 from under the gun and his neighbor Austin McCormick called. Phillips called from the big blind and the flop came {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

All three players checked, and the turn brought the {10-Hearts}. Phillips checked, Dwan bet 118,000, McCormick folded and Phillips called.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Phillips check-called 238,000 from Dwan.

Dwan rolled over {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a pair of tens and Phillips mucked.

Dwan is now the leader again with 2,275,000 chips and Phillips dropped to 1,380,000.

Harsukhpaul Sangha Eliminated in 12th Place ($35,327)

Eliminations are occurring at a rapid pace, and Harsukhpaul Sangha is our most recent victim.

Sangha was all in for his remaining 520,000 chips preflop and Nicholas "ISpewChips" Phillips had him at risk:

Showdown
Sangha: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Phillips: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The flop fell {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} giving Sangha a gut-shot straight draw. The turn was a meaningless {3-Hearts} and the {J-Diamonds} river paired both players but Phillips held the higher kicker.

Sangha is out in 12th place and Phillips is up to 1,925,000 chips.

Alex Bolotin Eliminated in 13th Place ($27,680)

Marvin Rettenmaier opened to 57,000 from middle position and the action folded to Alex Bolotin who moved all in for 349,000 total. Rettenmaier called, and it was race time:

Showdown
Rettenmaier: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Bolotin: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Bolotin didn't receive any help from the {3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts} board and was eliminated in 13th place.

With the knockout Rettenmaier is up to 1,420,000 chips.

Phillips Over a Million

Michael Smith opened to 57,000 from middle position and the action folded to Nicholas "ISpewChips" Phillips in the big blind who made the call.

Both players checked the {K-Spades}{A-Spades}{A-Hearts} flop, and after the {7-Diamonds} turned Phillips led for 99,000. Smith called.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and Phillips checked to Smith who bet 150,000. Phillips called and Smith rolled over {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a pair of kings. Phillips tabled {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the same pair but with a better kicker. He raked in the pot to increase his stack to 1,260,000 chips.

Smith is down to 515,000 chips.
