Richey with Another Double

Freddy Deeb raised to 2,000 and then Brett Richey reraised to 6,000 and then the player in the big blind re-reraised to 20,000. Deeb folded and then RIchey move all in for 26,200. The big blind the extra few thousand chips.

The big blind drew one and Richey stood pat. Richey tabled a {J-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-Spades} and his opponent drew a {Q-}{8-}{6-}{4-}{2-}. Richey doubled to about 55,000 and is looking like he's ready to go deep. Remember, Richey was down to his last 700 chips at one point before the last break.

Heart-Stopper

J.C. Tran just won a hand in which he'd drawn one card, then took the pot down with an unanswered bet. He then laughed, sharing with the table his mistake on the hand.

Apparently he'd been dealt a pair of sevens originally -- the {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} -- along with three other hearts. He then accidentally tossed the {7-Diamonds} rather than the {7-Hearts}, thus setting himself up potentially to complete a flush. Luckily he didn't, although he said how he felt a bit anxious once he realized he'd discarded the wrong seven.

That crisis averted, Tran still is sitting with a below average stack of 22,000.

The Grinder Gets Grey

Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Our two sets of brothers are keeping tabs on each other. Nick Binger recently busted, and passed along some words of encouragement to his brother Michael before he left.

Meanwhile, Robert Mizrachi just called over to his brother, Michael, a.k.a. "The Grinder." Again, Robert was asking for chip count. "27!" said Michael. "97?" said Robert hopefully. "27!" repeated Michael. "How am I gonna get 97 out of these guys?" Michael's table laughed in response.

Then came a hand in which Mizrachi raised to 2,000 from the hijack seat, and David Grey called from the button. Both drew one, then Mizrachi bet 4,000. Grey hemmed and hawed before letting his hand go, flashing a face card as he did.

Mizrachi smiled as he scooped the pot. He'd held {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}! He now has 30,000.

Elezra Backs Down from Bakes

David "Bakes" Baker continues his climb up the leaderboard. Just now he was open-raising again -- this time from under the gun -- and the table folded around to Eli Elezra who reraised to 6,300 from the big blind. Baker then repopped it to 27,000.

Elezra tanked, then folded his hand face up -- {9-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{2-}. Elezra slips down to 9,000, while Baker is now up to 80,000.

Vedes Leading

Nick Schulman raised to 1,500 and then Tommy Vedes reraised from the small blind to 4,200. Schulman made the call. Vedes drew one and Schulman stood pat.

After the draw, Vedes fired 6,000 and Schulman raised to 16,000. Vedes made the call and won with his {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}. Schulman mucked and dropped to 15,500. Vedes looks to be the chip leader now with 92,000 chips.

Baking Up a Few Pots

After the draw, Jason Mercier fired out a bet of 6,750 and David Baker tank-called. Mercier showed a {9-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-} and Baker mucked, dropping to 68,000. Mercier moved up to 39,000.

On the next hand, Mercier raised from the cutoff seat to 1,350. Eli Elezra called on the button and then Baker three-bet to 7,100. Mercier folded as did Elezra and Baker moved back up to 72,250.

On the hand after that, Baker raised to 1,700 from the button. Daniel Negreanu called from the small blind. Negreanu drew two and Baker drew one. Both players then checked and Negreanu tabled a {J-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-}. Baker mucked and is now on 70,425.
