Re-Draw Miscellany

Table 309 is where all the chips are-- top stack David Oppenheim is seated to the left of second-place Alexander Kostritsyn.

Michael and Robert Mizrachi drew seats on the same table, however the floor had Robert switch seat cards with David Oppenheim as immediate family members are always re-seated on different tables when this situation arises. Unless it's a final table... can't do anything about that.

Re-Draw to Three Tables

Our 24 remaining players just re-drew for seats on three tables. Here's a look at the new lineup:

Jesus Departs as Oppenheim Soars!

Pot Limit Omaha

Catching the action on a flop of {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, Chris Ferguson led out for 45,000 before Oppenheim raised the bet to a total of 157,500. Ferguson thought for a moment before moving all in for around 400,000 as Oppenheim quickly called.

Ferguson: {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Oppenheim: {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

"Queen-high..." sighed Ferguson as he tabled his cards, although his draw was a powerful one with straight and flush possibilities. However Oppenheim's two pair improved to a full house on the {8-Hearts} turn to leave Ferguson needing a miracle one-outer river to stay alive. It wasn't to be, as the {A-Spades} fell to eliminate "Jesus" and catapult Oppenheim up to a tournament-leading 2.25 million in chips!

With that elimination the players will now redraw for the final three tables of play!

Alaei Takes a Slice Out of Singer

Pot-Limit Omaha

With the board reading {4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} on the turn, David Singer led out for 52,000 and Daniel Alaei called from the button. The river was the {K-Clubs} and Singer checked to Alaei who bet 95,000. Singer called.

Alaei showed {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a Broadway straight and Singer mucked. Singer is down to just over 100,000 in chips.

A Brilliant Razz Laydown?

Razz

Erik Sagstrom and James Van Alstyne just played out a rather intriguing Razz hand that has left Sagstrom in a little trouble. The boards were as follows:

Sagstrom: (X-X) {3-}{6-}{2-}{4-}
Van Alstyne: (X-X) {2-}{4-}{A-}{5-}

Two very impressive Razz boards, so you'd probably expect a big showdown? Van Alstyne led the betting on fourth, before check-calling on fifth. When play reached sixth street, Van Alstyne checked, Sagstrom bet but Van Alstyne put in a check-raise. Most of us novice Razz players are going broke holding a {5-} in that spot, but not Sagstrom, who flashed the five and mucked his sixty-five low without adding another chip to the pot, putting Van Alstyne on a superior holding.

Potentially a brilliant read, or perhaps a suicidal muck - an answer than only James Van Alstyne will ever know. Either way, it's left Sagstrom with just 130,000 in chips, but he's still alive, as Van Alstyne moves up to 420,000.

Grinder Puts Singer to the Test

No-Limit Hold'em

Michael Mizrachi opened for 25,000 on the button, David Singer three-bet from the small blind and Mizrachi called. Singer led out for 130,000 on the {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop and Mizrachi called. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Singer checked. Mizrachi bet 400,000, enough to set him all-in.

Singer went into the tank for several minutes, muttering to himself about how he thought the Grinder was bluffing. However, he decided not to risk his tournament life to find out and gave up his hand, much to the delight of Mrs. Grinder, the lovely Aidiliy Elviro, who is sweating her husband and brother-in-law from an empty corner of media row.

A Baker's Double

Limit Holdem

In a battle of the blinds, a raising war erupted between David Baker and Nick Schulman that saw the last of Baker's chips in the middle.

Baker: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}
Schulman: {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} to pair Baker twice and give him the double up to 184,000. Schulman is left with 600,000.

Cole South Eliminated by David Oppenheim

Cole South
Cole South

No-Limit Hold'em

David Oppenheim opened for 26,000 from under-the-gun, Cole South moved all-in for his last 90,000 from the hijack seat and Oppenheim called.

South {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Oppenheim {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

Oppenheim flopped two pair and South did not improve, the board running out {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades} to send him to the rail. Oppenheim is up to 1.68 million and is neck-and-neck with Alexander Kostritsyn for the chip lead.

Steicke Sunk By Elezra's Boat

No Limit Holdem

David Singer raised it up to 25,000 from under the gun and Eli Elezra made the call before action passed to David Steicke who moved all in from the button for his last 125,000. Singer released but Elezra tossed out calling chips and we were off to the races!

Steicke: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Elezra: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

It was a short-lived race as the flop landed {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} to give Elezra a virtually unbeatable full house. Needing a runner-runner miracle, it wasn't to be as the {5-Spades} turn and {2-Clubs} river completed the board to send Steicke to the exit.

Bulychev Stands His Ground

2-7 Triple Draw

Ilya Bulychev raised it up before Brett Richey made a re-raise from the button. Bulychev just flat-called and interestingly stood pat. Richey drew two which sparked Bulychev to lead the betting. Richey made the call and again drew two after Bulychev stood pat. Bet and call before the final draw, as Bulychev stood pat for the third time in the hand. Richey took one before the action was checked in the final round of betting.

Bulychev showed {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-} as Richey could only flash a {10-} as his cards hit the much. Bulychev moves up to 615,000 as Richey slips to 630,000.
