A Pair All Proulx Needs

Tommy Le opened for a raise from middle position, Miguel Proulx reraised from the button, and Le called. The flop came {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. Le checked, and when Proulx bet 40,000 Le immediately announced "Pot!" Proulx reraised all in, and Le, who had Proulx covered, made the call.

Le turned over {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a flush draw, and Proulx showed {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades} for a better flush draw plus a pair of kings. And in the end, that lone pair would do it, as the turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {3-Diamonds}.

Proulx chips up to 390,000, while Le tumbles to 160,000.

Break Time, 19 Left

Our 19 remaining players are heading to what will be the last scheduled break of the night. We'll play two more one-hour levels tonight. Or -- if we happen to lose ten players first and get to a final table -- play will stop then.

Tayar Takes One

Bryce Yockey raised to 13,500 from under the gun, and it folded around to Stephane Tayar who called from the big blind.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Tayar checked, Yockey bet 18,500, then Tayar raised not-quite-pot to 68,500. Yockey considered for some time. "I'm gonna fold," he finally said. "But I'm gonna regret it."

He then explained he had a king-high flush draw and a pair, but his Parisian opponent offered no information about his holding. Yockey has 220,000 and Tayar 247,000 as we head to break.

Giang's Last Stand

Chau Giang
Chau Giang

After a raise, Chau Giang reraised his entire stack of about 40,000 all in and was called by Miguel Proulx.

Giang: {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Proulx: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Giang was in bad shape when the flop came {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn left Giang drawing to the {7-Clubs} on the river. The dealer burned and revealed the {8-Diamonds} on the river, which sent Giang home in 20th place ($9,842).

Klein Guts Giang

There was already 180,000 in the middle when the flop came {6-Spades}{Q-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. L.J. Klein went all in, almost betting the pot as he had 179,000, and Chau Giang called.

Klein had {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for the nut flush draw plus a gutshot to Broadway, while Giang had {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades} for the set of queens. The turn was the {7-Clubs}, and Giang was still best. But the river brought the {3-Spades}, giving Klein the hand and huge, 526,000-chip pot. As the chips were being sorted, Giang picked up that river card and angrily threw it face down on the felt.

Giang tumbles all of the way down to just 24,000 after that hand, while Klein retakes the chip lead.

Gardenhire All In

Justin Gardenhire
Justin Gardenhire

With about 90,000 in the pot, the flop came down {5-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Justin Gardenhire was all in with {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} against Patrick Hanoteau's {8-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

Hanoteau was ahead with his pair of queens but Gardenhire had a surplus of outs. The {2-Diamonds} on the river was not one of them and neither was the {A-Hearts} on the river.

Gardenhire was eliminated in 21st place and will take home $9,842.

Giang Eliminates Briskin

Chau Giang was under the gun and bet 15,000. Eoghan Odea made the call and Ilya Briskin moved all in for 4,000 more from the big blind. Both players called and they saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

Both players checked to the {7-Hearts} on the turn, at which point Giang bet 45,000. Odea got out of the way and the two remaining players showed their cards:

Giang: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Briskin: {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{A-Clubs}

The river was the {6-Spades} and Giang's straight was enough to take down the pot and increase his stack to 310,000. Briskin was eliminated in 22nd place and will take home $9,842.
