Shorr-ing Up

Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr

Taylor McFarland opened with a raise to 3,000 from early position, and it folded around to Shannon Shorr who called from the big blind. The flop came {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{K-Spades}, and both checked. The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, and both players checked once again.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds} and a 5,000 bet from Shorr. McFarland thought a beat, then made the call. Shorr showed {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the Broadway straight, and McFarland mucked.

After losing some chips early on, Shorr moves back to 29,000. Meanwhile McFarland is still comfortably above average with 63,000.

Straight Flush for Junglen

Michael Greco opened from early position for 2,200 and got two callers including Adam Junglen. The flop came monotone -- {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} -- and all three players checked. The turn brought the {8-Spades}. Greco bet 4,000, Junglen called, and the third player got out.

The river was the {J-Diamonds}. Greco checked, and Junglen bet 16,000. Greco made the call, and Junglen showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a straight flush. Greco mucked, and slips to 38,300. Junglen meanwhile chips up to 72,000.

Early Eliminations

After that good start, Jeremy Dresch quickly faltered and has been eliminated. Others to fall here in the early going on Day 2 include Aaron Jones, Donald Vann, and Humberto Brenes.

We've already lost 15 players during the first 45 minutes of play, and are now down to 87 left with chips.

Big Man with a Big Stack

Six-time WSOP bracelet winner T.J. Cloutier came back to a big stack today, and here in Level 11 is doing what he can to make it even bigger.

We just had a hand in which Kevin Iacofano opened for 2,700 from early position, Don Nguyen called from middle position, and it folded around to T.J. Cloutier who called as well from the small blind. The BB folded, and the flop came {J-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

"I bet pot," said the former footballer, forcing a fold from Iacofano. Nguyen, however, announced he was reraising the pot. "All right, let's just get it in then," said Cloutier, adding as punctuation -- "Pot." Nguyen called with the last of his chips.

Nguyen was all in with {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} -- the nut flush draw. Cloutier had {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs} for two pair and the Broadway wrap. The turn was the {7-Spades} and the river the {A-Diamonds}, giving Cloutier the straight.

Nguyen is out, and Cloutier is now up to 140,000.

The Thrill Is Gone

Will "The Thrill" Failla has been eliminated, reducing the overall potential for grins in this event. It was a {K-}{K-}-X-X versus {A-}{A-}-X-X situation that saw Failla fall.
