Richey Eliminated in an Action Pot

Brett Richey
Brett Richey

Albert Minnullin, Pat Walsh, and Brett Richey each put in the full five bets before the flop, and Michael Reed was in there as well, all in for his last 15,500 chips.

They all went off to a flop of {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades}, and Albert Minnullin check-folded after some significant action developed behind him. Walsh bet and Richey raised to start if off, then Walsh reraised, and Richey moved all in over the top. With two big pots piled in the middle of the table, and Richey and Reed both at risk against Walsh, the cards were turned up:

Richey: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}
Reed: {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs}
Walsh: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

Walsh was well out in front with his overpair, two cards away from a double knockout. The turn came the {4-Hearts}, a blank that changed nothing.

The river, though, was the {5-Clubs}, and that filled in the unlikely straight for Reed, giving him the best hand in the end. He wins the main pot to quadruple his way up over 60,000. Walsh takes the side pot with his queens up, and that lives Richey with no pot and with no more chips left in front of him.

He's out.

Chen Ground Up

Two-time bracelet winner and dance machine Bill Chen
Two-time bracelet winner and dance machine Bill Chen

The rest of Bill Chen's chips went in on the turn with the board reading {Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi made the call.

Chen {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Mizrachi {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

"All I need to do is hit my straight," said Chen.

The river, however, was a blank and the Grinder took down the pot, sending Chen to the rail. Mizrachi is up to 340,000.

Lunkin Leaves

Lunkin with reason to scowl now
Lunkin with reason to scowl now

On the turn of a {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} board, Vitaly Lunkin was all in with {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} and in bad shape against the {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} of Kenny Hsiung.

Lunkin was drawing dead to two outs, and the {5-Spades} river was not one of them. We're minus one Russian here as the money bubble draws near.

Schmelev Snuffed Out

Vladimir Schmelev
Vladimir Schmelev

Matt Keikoan, Vladimir Schmelev and Greg DeBora each put in four bets before the {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop. DeBora led out, Schmelev called all-in for his last 3,000, and Keikoan called. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and DeBora fired out again. Keikoan raised and DeBora called. The river was the {K-Diamonds} and DeBora check-called a bet from Keikoan.

Keikoan turned over {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and DeBora mucked. Keikoan took the side pot, then won the main as Schmelev showed his {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and hit the rail.

Keikoan is up to 210,000 while DeBora is on 170,000.
