With around 1,500 already in the pot, Jonathan Karamalikis and Terrence Chan saw a flop of 
where Chan led out for a few hundred. Karamalikis raised to 1,500 and Chan called.

Can You Make It Nine in a Row?
Leo Wolpert, winner of this event last year, is back to defend his crown in the $10K Heads Up Championship. Wolpert had to defeat eight opponents last year to win the bracelet, just as this year's winner will have to do.
He's drawn John Racener as a first round opponent. Racener has a small edge over Wolpert following the first two 20-minute levels, with 34,000 to 26,000.

Jason Somerville has advanced to the second round, having defeated Andrew "LuckyChewy" Lichtenberger.
John Juanda has fallen, defeated by Jochanan Flink.

When the Chan Hits the Fan
A psychedelically attired Johnny Chan is next on the scrapheap, he was disposed of by Michael Banducci, pocket tens holding up against A-9 all in preflop. "He had 25,000 at the time," revealed Banducci in the aftermath.
