Montgomery on a Tear

Scott Montgomery has been on a climb all day and now finds himself with about 70,000 chips. In one hand we just saw him play, a middle position player had made a raise to 1,200 with Montgomery re-raising by placing a stack of yellow (1,000) chips in the middle, effectively pitting his opponent all in. Montgomery got called and we were off to the races.

Montgomery: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The flop was no good when it paired Montgomery's opponent with {2-Spades}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}. However, Montgomery picked up a flush draw which he missed with the {3-Hearts} turn, but made with the {5-Spades} river.

Margets Trending Upward

We caught up to Leo Margets when she bet 1,100 from the cutoff into a five-way limped pot with a flop of {6-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The player in the big blind was the only one to call her.

Both players checked the {2-Diamonds} on the turn. But when the {k-Spades} came on the river, the big blind bet 1,400. Margets made the call and the big blind mucked without showing. Marget on the other hand, showed {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}. She's now up to 25,000.

No More Black in Here

With only 6,000 on his stack, Andy Black opened the pot in the hijack seat with a 775-chip raise. The action arrived to the player in the big blind, who re-popped it to 3,800. Black moved all in and was called.

Showdown
Black: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The board {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} gave Black a passport to the rail.

Montgomery On Fire

While Montgomery stacked his chips, he was dealt another hand. One player opened the pot with a 625-chip raise in middle position, the player next to speak called, and Montogomery re-popped it to 2,650 from the small blind.

The initial raiser folded and the other player called.

The flop ran out {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Montgomery fired a 6,000-chip bet after his opponent checked. His opponent called.

The turn card was a {2-Spades} and all the chips went in. Montogmery's opponent check-raised all in his 15,000-chip bet and Montgomery called.

Showdown
Opponent: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Montgomery: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Ther river card was a bricked and Montgomery is now up to 70,000 chips.

Black Hanging on for Dear Life

Andy Black was a short stack when he moved all in from the button for 1,700. He was looked up by the big blind who only had 1,575.

Black: {j-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Small blind: {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Black stayed behind as the board ran out {q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades} and was left with just 125 chips.

On the very next hand he was all in and while we didn't catch the action, we do know that Black made a straight and quadrupled up to 700.

Montgomery on His Way Up

When we arrived at the table the board was spread {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and there were a lot of chips in the pot.

First to speak, Scott Montgomery fired a 8,000-chip bet. His opponent tanked and eventually called.

Montgomery tabled two black aces and took the pot, is now up to 30,000 chips.

Holy Aggro, Batman!

We arrived on the scene just in time to see that David Sands had re-raised an early position raiser from 700 to 1,875. A player in middle position then four-bet to 3,200 with Sands five-betting to 5,475 after the early position player folded, resulting in a fold from his opponent.

After all that raising, Sands is up to 24,000.

Players Dropping Fast

Play this evening is set to conclude when we have about 248 players left. We started the night with 2,486 and are already down to about 480. We don't know exactly when the magic number will hit, but we expect it to occur sometime within the next two hours.
