Mueller on the Move

Greg Mueller
Greg Mueller

Greg "FBT" Mueller didn't want to waste three good hours of poker time this afternoon. Since Day 2 of this event didn't begin until 3:00, Mueller arrived at the Rio at noon to start the $2,500 Mixed Hold'em tournament. The limit specialist is running back and forth between Pavilion and Amazon not that both events are running simultaneously. He was on the ropes in the mixed tournament, but he's since built back up. Follow his progress in Event #44 here. Mueller also has a decent stack here, meaning it could be a long day of commuting for FBT.

Mortensen Flush With Chips

Carlos Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen

Stud

Carlos Mortensen has just taken a nice stud pot off Steve Billirakis. Mortsensen completed before Billirakis led the action on fourth. Mortensen then took over on fifth, sixth and seventh with Billirakis calling him down.

Mortensen: ({10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}) / {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Billirakis: (X-X-X) / {3-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Mortensen made a flush and collected the pot to move to 164,000. Billirakis is back down to 125,000.

Alaei Takes Some from Ashby

Stud-8

Richard Ashby: (X-X) / {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades} / (X)
Daniel Alaei: (X-X) / {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts} / (X)

Daniel Alaei completed, then called a raise from Richard Ashby. Alaei called all the way down, and after one last bet on seventh, Alaei turned over {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for kings up to scoop the pot. Ashby mucked on his way down to 65k. Alaei now has 120k.

Ivey To Win Poker

There's currently some table talk about the various prop bets with Phil Ivey and how some players are offering 7-1 odds on Ivey winning another bracelet this year.

Abe Mosseri commented, "I won't bet against Ivey. The guy will probably go out and win the Main Event...he'll win poker."

Of course there's the other famous saying that came from Gus Hansen where he said that the object of poker was to see how long you can stop Phil Ivey getting all of the chips.

Leonidas Times Four

Omaha-8

Toto Leonidas was all in for slightly more than the big blind on the button in a four-way pot. The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, and Andrew Pantling bet out from the small blind. The big blind raised, and the third player folded. XX called, then bet again on the[ {10-Hearts} turn. The big blind flatted this time, and he called one last bet after the {7-Clubs} river. Pantling showed {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} for top set. The big blind sighed. "Have jacks?" Pantling asked. And the other player flashed his pocket jacks for the under-set. Pantling took the much more profitable side pot on his way up to 138,000. Leonidas waited until all the queens vs. jacks talk had ended to say, "You get the side pot," and table {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, enough to take the main pot with Broadway. Leonidas quadrupled his stack, but he's still short with around 25,000.

Bellande Busts

Hold'em

Jean-Robert Bellande has been eliminated from the tournament after running his {A-}{10-} into Bill Chen's pocket aces in hold'em. Before leaving the floor, he was spotted wandering from table to table to pay out each of his last longer bets.

Forrest Falls

Ted Forrest was short stacked and all in on fourth street in razz against Phil Galfond. The boards ran out as follows:

Forrest: ({4-}{9-}) / {5-}{5-}{7-}{K-} / ({9-})
Galfond: ({A-}{8-}) / {2-}{a-}{9-}{3-} / ({J-})

Too many pairs for Forrest left him with a king as Galfond collected the pot with his nine. Forrest is busto and Galfond has 72,000.
