Mizrachi Count = None

We are down to a total of zero Mizrachis in this tournament.

After Michael Mizrachi busted yesterday at the same time as David Benyamine in a massive four-way preflop all-in showdown (they decided their last longer was a push), his brother Robert has met a similar, if somewhat less spectacular, fate.

We just caught the tail end of the hand; Mizrachi mucked and walked away. The board read {2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Dustin Pattinson was holding {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for two pair and the nut low. Pattinson moved up to 70,000.

Lederer's Good for Three-Fourths

Steve Chanthabouasy was one of the chip leaders entering the day. He hasn't made much noise yet, but he was part of a three-way pot that included Howard Lederer and a third player. Chanthabouasy opened for 3,000 before Lederer re-raised to 10,500. The third player called all in for that amount and Chanthabouasy called as well.

Lederer took down the empty side pot with an all-in bet of 23,600 on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. He turned over {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades} for the nut low draw and a pair of kings. The all-in player had {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and at least salvaged one-quarter when the low came in on the river.

Cernuto Scoops with Treys

John Cernuto and an opponent managed to get it all in on a flop of {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Neither player had much. Cernuto showed the second-nut low draw and two pair, sevens and fives, with {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}. His opponent had the nut-low draw with {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The turn came another seven, the {7-Diamonds}, to give Cernuto a full house, sevens full of treys. That held when the river bricked everything, {9-Diamonds}.

Cernuto is up to 95,000.

Dempsey Cracks Aces

James Dempsey got rather lucky and managed to crack his opponent's aces to take three quarters of the pot and bump his stack up to 38,000.

Dempsey: {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Unfortunate opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Board: {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs} making Dempsey a straight

Two Hands, Three Players, One Elimination

Barny Boatman, Hasan Habib and John Racener were involved in two recent pots, the second of which ended with Racener's elimination. In the first, Racener was the first mover on a flop of {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}, betting 3,000. Habib and Boatman both called to the {k-Hearts} turn. Racener checked there, then was forced to fold when Habib bet 7,200 and Boatman moved all in for not much more. Habib called the all in with {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}, a pair of treys and a wheel draw. Boatman showed trip kings, {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}, which held with a {q-Hearts} river.

The next hand, Racener was all in for 7,200 on a flop of {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, a flopped Broadway straight. Habibi called with {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, a diamond draw and a running low draw. Both draws filled with an {8-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river. Racener is out.
