Double Up for John Sidoni

Tomer Berda opened the pot with a 30,000-chip raise and Jack Powell shoved for 236,000 chips. John Sidoni called all-in behind, and Berda eventually folded.

John Sidoni: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Sidoni now has 400,000 chips. Powell slipped to 55,000.

Eso!!!

Santiago Nadal just more than doubled his stack after winning a race against Alexander Carr.

The action started with Dwyte Pilgrim who opened to 35,000. Nadal three-bet all-in to 213,000 and Carr isolated to more than 300,000.

Calvin Kordus, one of our resident chip leaders, went deep into the tank...or so it seemed.

"You know it's on you, right?" one of the players inquired.

Kordus awoke from a brief daydream and folded his cards. The action proceeded to fold back to Pilgrim who quickly released and the two hands were tabled:

Nadal: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Carr: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The flop fell {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

"Eso!!!!!!!" Nadal's rail yelled. (Eso is casual spanish for "yeah" or "yes" during celebration.)

The {3-Spades} on the turn was no help to Carr, and he was drawing to a ten going to the river. The {2-Clubs} bricked, and Nadal raked it the pot to a chorus of "eso's."

Nadal's stack ballooned to 475,000 chips and Carr's sunk to 115,000.

It Takes Two to Tangle Twice

Kyle Knecht and Joshua Gibson got involved in a couple of back-to-back hands that resulted in Knecht moving up to second place in the rankings.

In their first hand, Knecht raised preflop and was called by Gibson. The flop came down {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Knecht led out with a bet that was called by Gibson.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and Knecht slowed down, checking action to Gibson who threw 90,000 into the middle, which was called by Knecht.

Things played out similarly on the river, which was the {8-Diamonds}. Once again, Knecht checked and Gibson went all in, having Knecht covered by 130,000. Knecht called and showed {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, which was enough to beat Gibson's {10-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

That first hand put Knecht at 940,000 and Gibson down to 130,000.

In the next hand, Knecht raised to 27,000 under the gun. Action folded to Gibson, who moved all in with Knecht calling. This time around, Knecht wasn't as fortunate as his {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} failed to improve against Gibson's {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} when the board played out {k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

As of posting time, Knecht has 810,000 in front of him, while Gibson has 260,000.

Praz Bansi Near the Top

Praz Bansi
Praz Bansi

Praz Bansi opened the pot with a 26,000-chip raise and Tomer Berda made the call in the small blind.

Flop: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Berda check-called a 30,000 bet from Bansi.

Turn: {q-Diamonds}

Now Berda check-called a 75,000 bet from Bansi.

River: {5-Diamonds}

Berda checked and Bansi fired a 175,000 bet. Berda tanked for five minutes and eventually made the call. Bansi tabled {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for a queen-high flush and took the pot.

Berda slipped to 125,000 and Bansi now has 700,000 chips.

Buchanan Sends Lau Doubling

We're seeing more hands where players are getting it all in preflop, with the latest going down between Stephen Buchanan and Louis Lau.

When play was folded to Buchanan in the small blind, he went all in, having Lau covered by 110,000. Lau made the call and it was time for the players to show us what they had.

Buchanan: {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Lau: {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Lau hit an eight on the {j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Spades} flop and wasn't slowed down with the {5-Diamonds} on the turn or the {5-Clubs} on the river.

Fazzone Hanging on for Pay Jump

Jason Fazzone has been nursing a very small stack worth less than 30,000 chips. Fazzone has good reason to though, because after the next elimination the payout jumps from $12,426 to $15,222.

That is almost twice the buy-in.

Fazzone put himself at risk though recently, open shoving for 23,000, less than two big blinds, when the action folded to him in middle position. A player in the small blind called and so too did Joshua Gibson from the big blind.

The two checked the hand all the way down, and the board looked like this: {10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

"King-high?" Gibson said quizzically.

He showed {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} but Fazzone tabled {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a wired pair of nines. The small blind folded claiming to have wired eights, and the 77,000 chip pot was pushed towards Fazzone.

Yay for six big blinds!

Kordus Closes in on a Million

Calvin Kordus has taken a huge chip lead and is sitting at 904,000 chips after doubling up off a player who won't tell us his name. The two got it all in preflop, and Kordus couldn't have been happy about his prospects.

Kordus: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and left Kordus with nothing to smile about. All of that changed with the {q-Spades} on the turn, giving Kordus top-top, which held through the {3-Hearts} on the river.
