Chan the Man

Terrence Chan was on the button and raised. The big blind called and the two saw a flop of {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. After the big blind checked, Chan bet and was called.

The same action occurred when the {8-Clubs} came on the turn and {4-Clubs} on the river. Chan turned over {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} which was good enough to take down the hand and increase his stack to 30,000.

Action Slow

With only two or three players remaining at each table, action has slowed down. We'll bring you the winners of each table just as soon as they bust. In the meantime, we'll try catching and hands that may developed.

A few big names currently battling for a spot are Phil Hellmuth, Jeff Madsen, Barry Shulman, Vicky Coren, Chau Giang, Jonathan Little, Mark Gregorich and Ylon Schwartz.

Mayer a Winner

Szabolcs Mayer is a winner and off to Day 2 of Event #53.

On the final hand his opponent got his last few bets in with {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and was dominated by Mayer's {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The board ran: {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} sending his opponent to the rail and Mayer into tomorrow.

Hellmuth and Madsen

Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

Their table is four-handed, but you wouldn't be able to tell the way Phil Hellmuth and Jeff Madsen are going at it.

In a recent hand, action folded to Hellmuth in the small blind.

"I'm supposed to raise here I think," he said after sweating his cards.

"No," Madsen returned. "You just know that if you limp I'm going to raise anyway."

Hellmuth indeed raised and Madsen defended.

"I bet blind," Hellmuth blurted.

"I call blind," Madsen said.

The dealer was a bit confused after dealing the {6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop, but eventually delivered the {5-Spades} on the turn.

Hellmuth fired a bet and Madsen thought a bit before folding.

"I should've raised dark," Madsen grinned.

"Oooooooh," Hellmuth gushed. "I might've re-raised dark!"

We're sure that these two will continue to tangle until one of them is eliminated from the tournament.

Tables Looking Empty

Most of the remaining tables are playing three handed or heads up; in fact, there are only a couple tables remaining with four players. This may seem like it is going fast, but limit heads up has been known to go for awhile.
