Pierson Doubles Through Dwan

Dmitry Stelmak and Tom Dwan limped into the pot before Stephen Pierson potted it from the small blind. Stelmak made the call before Dwan asked for a count on Pierson's remaining stack. He had 105,000 more behind which was enough to convince Dwan to make the call also.

They saw a flop of {2-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Pierson moved all in. Stelmak folded but Dwan made the call.

Pierson: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Dwan: {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

Pierson held aces and a flush draw but would need to improve as Dwan showed an unlikely two pair. However the turn was the {6-Clubs} to give Pierson the flush which didn't change on the {5-Diamonds} river.

Dwan takes a hit as he slips back to 740,000 with Pierson doubling to 340,000.

Lester Doubles

Jason Lester raised to 24,000 from the button and Leandro Pimentel made the call in the small blind.

They took a flop of {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Lester's continuation bet of 24,000 was called by Pimentel. The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} and Pimentel checked again to Lester who moved all in for his last 72,000. Pimentel made the call.

Pimentel: {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Lester: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The river bricked the {2-Spades} and Lester takes it down with kings and tens to double up to 267,000. Pimentel is back to 121,000.

Wheat Gets There

Matthew Wheat has doubled up through Michael Binger with the chips going in on a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Wheat tabled {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for aces with the nut flush draw as Binger held {Q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for two pair. The {3-Clubs} turn changed nothing but the river was the {8-Spades} to complete Wheat's flush for the double.

Wheat is up to 330,000 with Binger back to 235,000.

The Plan of Attack

As everyone takes their seats today to goal is to play this one right out until the death and we crown a WSOP champion. Due to the deep stacks, number and quality of players still left, there is a very strong possibility of this not finishing until very late (or early depending on your point of view). Seeing sunlight and making breakfast plans are definitely on the cards, which is a rarity for us.

However there is a provision that the tournament directors may decide to pause the tournament at the final table and resume play tomorrow if it's in the best interests for the welfare of the players, dealers and tournament staff.

Of course if the players would prefer to play it out, then that will happen, but since there are no other new events starting up tomorrow then pausing the tournament won't affect their chances in other tournaments. So this strengthens the case to pause it at the final table.

The only tournament that it affects is the Tournament of Champions final table which is set to resume at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. This affects the one and only Phil Hellmuth who we're certain wouldn't mind getting some sleep before playing for $500,000 tomorrow. In fact, if Hellmuth is on the final table of this event then it's highly likely he'll push to postpone the final table until tomorrow night so that he can play in both.

Time will tell! We'll keep you posted on any developments.

Fabrice Soulier Eliminated in 32nd Place ($19,839)

Fabrice Soulier - 32nd Place
Fabrice Soulier - 32nd Place

Fabrice Soulier raised the button to 19,000 before Ville Mattila three-bet to 61,000 from the big blind. Soulier made the call and they took a flop of {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

Mattila led out with a small bet of 45,000 before Soulier moved all in over the top, but Mattila made the call.

Matilla: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Soulier: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The kings of Matilla held on the {A-Hearts} turn and {10-Spades} river to eliminate Soulier in 32nd place. Matilla is up to 540,000.

Mr & Mrs Hellmuth On The Rail

Phil Hellmuth has plenty of support on the rail this afternoon, and not just from his legions of fans. Hellmuth just went over to the rail to give a big hug to his parents who are here watching their son in action today. Hopefully he behaves himself, otherwise his mother will have to send him to his room.

[Removed:326] Eliminated in 33rd Place ($19,839)

[Removed:326] was all in for his tournament life on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} against Julio Marines.
