Alawadhi Taking It Easy

The board read {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} when we arrived, and Ali Alawadhi, who was all in for 56,700, was walking around the table, hands in his pockets, not really paying attention any more.

The reason for his loss of interest in his own tournament life was that his opponent, who had to make a decision, had already been tanking up for some time. "Wow," he was saying, "Wow wow wow." He put a chip on each of his cards. He got a Red Bull from a passing cocktail waiter. He asked the dealer to spread the pot. All this took five or six minutes. Eventually he folded, showing the {a-Spades}. Alawadhi showed him the {4-Hearts} and raked in the 150,000 pot.

Ettedg'd Out of the Running

Joel Ettedgi raised in the cutoff and Ken Kao reraised from the button. It folded back around to Ettedgi who shoved, Kao called, and they were on their backs.

Kao: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Ettedgi: in need of some help with {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Board: a not very helpful {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} making Kao a flush

Ettedgi busted out with a polite, "Nice hand." Kao meanwhile moved up the scoreboard to 270,000.

Drama on Table 363

Over on Table 363, Thien Nguyen was upset with both Issac Baron and Craig Marquis. Some words were exchanged, the floor was called, and Nguyen was given a warning. Kevin O'Connell pipes up and tells everyone to relax because a hand was going on.

That hand was between Baron and another player. The flop was {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} with about 70,000 in the pot. Baron shoved for 66,900 and his opponent had a decision to make.

"Don't think you want me to call, but you might be bluffing with the best hand," he said and flicked his cards into the muck.

Now & Thien

Thien Nguyen raised to 13,000 in late position and the gentleman in the small blind made the call. Flopwards.

Flop: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The small blind bet out and Nguyen flat-called. To the turn.

Turn: {7-Spades}

This time the small blind checked. Nguyen bet 20,000 and once Mr. Small Blind had called, they saw the river.

River: {a-Clubs}

The small blind now checked again, only for Nguyen to go all in this time. Mr. Small Blind folded, and Nguyen, who'd taken a few hits in the last level or two, was back up to 235,000.

Shak Folds Potential Quads

Dan Shak raised, only for the gent in the cutoff to go all in for 46,000 and the gent in the small blind to re-shove for 73,900. Shak thought about it for a long time, telling the table he hoped they both had {a-}{k-} - but he eventually folded.

He was rewarded when the cutoff turned over pocket nines and the small blind turned over some dominating kings - but presumably suddenly felt bad again when a third ten came on the flop and the fourth one dropped on the river. Still, one mustn't be results-oriented, must one...

Double for Wooldridge

The chips were pushed in the middle after the flop. It was Warren Wooldridge who was at risk with his {q-Spades}{j-Spades} against Thien Nguyen holding {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} but the flop was {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{a-Spades} almost ensuring a double up for Wooldridge.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river the {5-Diamonds} and sure enough, Wooldridge increased his chip stack to 105,000 while Nguyen is sitting on 295,000.

Mackey Lurches Into Lead

James Mackey - no lackey
James Mackey - no lackey

This is the kind of action we like to see at 1am! Although presumably Mr. Christopher Kolla was not so keen on it.

A player who had somehow found himself down to just 4,000 went all in under the gun and a few places down Kolla re-shoved for 140,000, presumably to isolate. It didn't work, though, as James Mackey re-re-shoved from the small blind for over 200,000. The big blind somewhat disappointingly folded, and they were on their backs.

Under The Gun Gent: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Kolla: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Mackey: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Board: {6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-}{7-}{3-}

Mackey got the whole lot, sending both the shortie and the luckless Kolla to the rail. Mackey is now our massive chip leader, on 475,000.

At Sixes & Sevens

A rather curious hand here, as one player shoved for 28,100 and received two callers - only for one of them to accidentally expose his hand. The other caller, Adam Sandelovksy, was the only player who saw the cards.

"Sixes or sevens," was what he said when asked if he'd seen the player's cards.

"Close," said his live opponent.

The floor was called over but it was ruled that the hand should continue roughly as normal. The two live players checked the {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop and Mr. Exposed Cards bet out 20,000 which Sandelovsky called. They both checked the {5-Spades} river and Sandelovsky turned over {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and we will never know whether his opponent had sixes or sevens as he mucked. The all-in player mucked too, and Sandelovsky was up to 280,000.

Busted Flush Draw for Baron

It was folded around to Issac Baron in the cutoff who opened for 7,000. Kevin O'Connell made the call, as did the player in the big blind.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. The player in the big blind checked to Baron who made it 14,000. O'Connell reraised to 40,000 and the big blind folded. Baron then moved all in for about 200,000. O'Connell made the call, for his remaining stack of 105,000, putting himself at risk.

Baron: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
O'Connell: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}

The turn was the {3-Spades} and the river the {6-Spades} to see O'Connell double up on Baron's busted flush draw.
