Katz Doubles Through Rheem

Cary Katz
Cary Katz

David "Chino" Rheem had Cary Katz were all-in preflop, and it was race time:

Katz: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Rheem: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades} flop gave Rheem a brief lead before the {5-Hearts} fell on the turn. The {4-Hearts} on the river was nothing but a formality, and Katz doubled to 200,000 chips. Rheem is sitting with 485,000 chips.

Wide Right

Former placekicker Heather Sue Mercer has been eliminated from Event #6.

She was all-in for her last 60,000 chips and Danny Estes made the call. Estes' {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds} dominated Mercer's {10-Spades}{9-Spades} and the {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades}{A-Hearts}{6-Clubs} board did not improve her hand.

Mercer has hit the rail and Estes is now heads up with Josh Tieman.

Stammen Stomped

Kevin Stammen
Kevin Stammen

Keven Stammen was all in again only a few minutes after doubling through Cary Katz. Stammen held the same hand as the last time - {a-}{7-}, only here he was ahead of Joseph Elpayaa's {k-}{j-}. That's never good. When Stammen doubled up, he rivered a straight. This time it was Elpayaa who hit a straight on the river to bust Stamdogg. Elpayaa is up to 430,000 and playing three-handed with Katz and Chino Rheem.

Tieman Takes One From Mercer

Action folded to Heather Sue Mercer in the small blind who raised to 11,000. Josh Tieman re-raised to 32,000 from the big blind and Mercer called.

The dealer fanned {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Mercer checked to Tieman who bet 38,000. Mercer check-raised to 88,000 and Tieman re-raised all-in for 120,000 more. Mercer folded.

The stacks now look like this at the table:

Mercer: 116,000 chips
Tieman: 350,000 chips
Danny Estes: 434,000 chips

Duthie Dumped

John Duthie
John Duthie

John Duthie fought heads up against Terrence Chan for seven hours yesterday to earn his spot in Round 2. But it was a short-lived battle for him today. He's been eliminated but hasn't gone too far. He just moved one table over to continue his massage.

Stamdogg Sucks Out

Keven Stammen open-shoved from the button for 80,500, and Cary Katz called in the big blind. Stammen's {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs} was a dogg to the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} of Katz. The {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop gave Stammen some extra outs. The {3-Hearts} turn was a brick, but the {8-Clubs} on the river saved him with a straight. After the suckout, Stammen is up to 170,000. Katz is down to 110,000.

No More Chips for Moore, Channing Locks Up Final Table Seat

Neil Channing
Neil Channing

Neil Channing raised to 8,500, and his heads-up opponent Chris Moore reraised to 23,000. Channing called, and the flop fell {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Moore bet 40,000, and Channing flatted. The {2-Clubs} on the turn elicited a 100,000-chip bet from Moore, and Channing moved all in. Moore was covered and made the call for his tournament life. It didn't look good for Moore's {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} when Channing turned up {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for two pair and a flush draw. The {6-Clubs} on the river gave Channing the nut flush and a ticket to the final table. Now he's got the night off to prepare before he has to get back to work at 2:30 tomorrow.
