Hanks Holds, Advances to Final Table

We have one seat reserved at the final table of Event #6, and it's for Brent Hanks.

His heads up match with Josef Monro concluded with a race, and all the money went in preflop. Hanks held {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} against Monro's {A-Spades}{10-Spades} and the board ran {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

With the victory Hanks is guaranteed at least $71,998 and a shot at $441,692 and the bracelet tomorrow.

Hinkle Cracks Bell, Liberates Him from Tournament

Chris Bell got it all in good with {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} against Blair Hinkle's {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. And for the second time today, Hinkle got a gift from the board. It came {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, and Hinkle's flopped set sent Bell packing. Hinkle rivered a set of tens earlier in the day to eliminate Tom Dwan and his kings. Blair is now heads up with Nicolas Levi.

Hinkle - 635,000
Levi - 265,000

Hinkle Clubs Levi

Not literally.

Nicolas Levi opened on the button and Blair Hinkle three-bet to 19,000 in the small blind. Levi called.

The flop fell {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Hinkle led for 30,000. Levi called and the two checked the {6-Clubs} on the turn.

The {Q-Hearts} was the river card and Hinkle led for 75,000. Levi called and quickly mucked when Hinkle tabled {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a turned flush.

Hinkle jumped to 335,000 chips and Levi dropped to 332,000.

Big Fade for Hanks, Now Heads Up

Brent "bhanks11" Hanks
Brent "bhanks11" Hanks

Brent "bhanks11" Hanks faded a ton of outs against Maxim Lykov, and is now heads up with Josef Monro.

Monro limped on the button and Hanks raised from the small blind to 18,000, Lykov called in the big blind and Monro folded his button.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Hanks led for 25,000. The next .0005 seconds went like this:

Lykov raise.
Hanks shove.
Lykov call.

Here were the hands:

Lykov: {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Hanks: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Lykov had a ton of outs, but the {2-Spades} bricked on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} bricked on the river.

A few hands later Lykov was eliminated by Josef Monro.

The two got it all-in preflop and Lykov’s {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} was dominated by Monro’s {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The board ran {5-Spades}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Lykov was eliminated.

Hanks and Monro are now heads up, and after a quick double-up by Hanks the stacks look like this:

Hanks: 599,000 chips
Monro: 301,000 chips

Bell Tolls for Minieri

And just like that, Dario Minieri went from short to eliminated (and still short). Chris Bell raised under the gun, and Minieri shoved for 67,000 on top from the big blind. Bell called with {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to put Dario and his {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs} at risk. It was a pretty terrible flop for Minieri - {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs}. He was drawing dead after the {2-Clubs} on the turn, heading to the rail and leaving his table three-handed. Blair Hinkle is in the lead with 330, Bell is now up to 270,000, and Nicolas Levi has around 240,000.

One PokerStars Pro Down, Two Still Grinding

Dario Minieri

Team PokerStars Pro started the day with three representatives left in the $5,000 Shootout. After Chad Brown's elimination, European Poker Tour Director John Duthie and Team Italy member Dario Minieri are left to carry the team. And they've got some work to do if they want to get a Team Pro patch to the final table tomorrow. John Duthie is at the one table that is still six-handed, and he's the shortest of the bunch. Minieri is also the short stack at his four-handed table. He's on 95k and could stand to double through Chris Bell or Nicolas Levi, who both have around 240k, or through Blair Hinkle, who's got 330k.

Oops

At the end of Level 3 a tournament director grabbed one of the microphones in the Rio and announced that we were going on a break.

He misspoke.

We aren't scheduled for another break until after Level 4, but apparently a player scurried to the bathroom or the elegant Poker Kitchen for the moment so we have to take the twenty-minute break.

We'll cya in a few!
