Gibson Takes it Slow with the Ladies

A player in late position opened with a mini-raise to 1,600, and Joshua Gibson called from the small blind. They took a heads-up flop of {9-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades}, and Gibson check-called a bet of 1,800. The {J-Hearts} landed on fourth street and drew checks from both players, and the {A-Clubs} filled out the board on the river, and Gibson checked again. His opponent fired out another bet, 2,600, and Gibson made a reluctant call with pocket queens. The other player turned over {A-Spades} {8-Spades}, dragging the pot and knocking Gibson down a peg to 47,000.

Chidwick Out Too

Stephen Chidwick is the latest victim of Event #9 after committing most of his chips to {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} before the flop. After building a pot of more than 20,000 with Bob Oxenberg, Chidwick put his last 1,300 into the pot on the flop of {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {9-Spades}. Oxenberg quickly called with {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}, and Chidwick could not catch up.

The turn and river brick-bricked with the {5-Spades} and {3-Hearts}, and Chidwick has been eliminated. Oxenberg is quite healthy with about 45,000 after that knockout.

Chippes!

A few delicious chip counts for dessert.

Pot for Serock

Joe Serock opened the pot with a raise to 1,200 on the button, and he got called by the player in the small blind.

Flop: {10-Spades}{a-Hearts}{6-Spades} and both players checked.

Turn: {8-Clubs} Serock bet out 1,800 chips after his opponent checked the action. He got called.

River: {3-Hearts} both players checked and Serock tabled {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} taking the pot.

Serock is now up to 12,000 chips.

Counterfeiting Brenes

Humberto Brenes raised to 1,600, and he called an all-in reraise from a short-stacked opponent. The at-risk player tabled {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}, and Brenes was racing for the knockout with {2-Hearts} {2-Spades}.

The board ran out a counterfeit-y {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}, and three pair is not so good for Brenes. He's given his opponent a double up, slipping to 13,000 in the process.
