Harrington Lets One Go

Dan Harrington was sitting with 83,000 when he was folded to in the cutoff, opening for 13,000. The player in the button re-raised to 37,000 and Harrington said "You can have this one" before folding.

Harrington was left with just 70,000 chips afterwards, remarking that poker is "A tough way to make a living."

Schirp Fills Up, Moves Up

Our Dutch friends alerted us to an enormous pot won by Martijn Schirp.

It folded around to the gent in the small blind, who just limped in. Schirp raised to 11,000 from the big, and his opponent called.

They saw a {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop and the small blind checked. Schirp bet 15,000, the small blind called, and they saw the turn.

The turn was the {q-Spades} and the small blind check-called 37,500 from Schirp this time. They were at the river.

The river came the {8-Diamonds} and this time the small blind checked. Schirp tanked up for a while before betting what looked like 88,000. His opponent called and turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} - but Schirp turned over {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for a full house, and upped his stack to 1.12 million.

Charder Enjoying the Bubble

After a player raised to 12,000, Christian Harder three-bet from the big blind to 36,500. His opponent flatted, not wanting to put himself at risk but not willing to give up yet. Taking this cautiously in this precarious spot, they checked down the {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board. Charder's opponent tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, but Harder's mighty {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} had flopped a pair and held to win the hand. He's up to 420,000 and looking completely relaxed and in control after a five-hour massage.

Risky Business

We've seen a few preflop all-ins on both of the feature tables here of late as we approach the money bubble.

On the main table, Karina Jett just opened with a raise to 15,000, and an opponent shoved all in for 43,500 behind her. It folded back around and Jett considered for a minute or more before letting her hand go. Probably a good thing for her, as her opponent showed {K-}{K-}. Jett has about 185,000 at the moment.

On the secondary feature table, we've seen Gavin Smith open-push all in three times so far, getting no callers each time.

"That's respect!" he chimed after the last instance. "Or no hands," he added with a grin.

Smith remains with about 50,000.

Del Valle Del-eted

From the button, Phil Galfond opened the pot to 10,500. Ivan del Valle was in the small blind, and he moved all in for his last 60,000 or so. In the big, Zachary Clark called, and del Valle let out a big, "No!" Galfond folded out of the way, and the other two were heads up. It was del Valle at risk, and the news was not good:

Del Valle: {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Clark: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

There wasn't much for del Valle to sweat on a board of {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {9-Clubs}, and he has been eliminated. That moves Clark up to 220,000 now, and we've got 774 players left.

The Man with the Golden Gun

Tony Dunst looking the part
Tony Dunst looking the part

Tony Dunst has just taken his stack well over the million-chip mark with back-to-back hands and he was ever so kind to give us the scoop on what happened.

According to Dunst, action folded around to the button and he raised to 10,500. Dunst called from the big blind and the two saw a flop come {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Dunst checked and the button bet 15,000. Dunst check-raised to 50,000 and his opponent called. The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and Dunst fired 75,000. His opponent called again. The river completed the board with the {6-Diamonds} and Dunst fired another bullet to win the pot, but that wasn't the big hand.

On the very next hand, action folded to Dunst in the small blind and he made it 13,500 to go. Isaac Krantz was in the big blind and called. The two of them saw the flop come down {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Dunst fired 18,000. Krantz raised to 41,000 and Dunst called. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Dunst check-called a bet of 100,000.

The river completed the board with the {K-Clubs} and Dunst check-called an all-in shove from Krantz. Dunst held top two pair with {K-}{10-} and won the massive pot worth over 1.1 million in chips.

Dunst now has around 1.12 million. Krantz was left with around 600,000.

Bryn Bubble Bluffing

Bryn Kenney raised to 13,000 from middle position, and the cutoff popped it to 37,500. Kenney flatted to see the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop. Kenney bet out an intimidating 85,500. That was enough to scare away his opponent. Bryn showed {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. "Did you flop a flush?" asked a player at the other end of the table. Not exactly. Kenney has 640,000 and a sense of humor.

Brown and Out

Andrew Brown
Andrew Brown

Andrew Brown opened by pushing his last 75,500 in the middle, then a player reraised all in behind him. The table folded back around, Brown showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and his opponent showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}, and Brown was looking for help. The {8-Hearts} on the turn did give Brown a flush draw, but the river was the {9-Spades} and Brown was eliminated.

Brown's long, difficult day has come to a close. In the top ten to start Day 4, he goes out just about 15 spots shy of the money.

Phillips Still Trending Downwards

It's crunch time now, with just two tables of eliminations remaining to the money. Carter Phillips find himself down to 140,000 after trying and failing to effect one of those eliminations. A player opened with a standard raise from the button that Phillips re-raised out of the small blind. The button player responded by moving all in for 87,500 more. Phillips called with {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and found himself dominated by the button's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}. The board rolled out {10-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, no help for Phillips.
