Hand #49: Joseph Cheong

Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Michael Mizrachi has the button in Seat 5.

Joseph Cheong raises to 1.325 million to open the pot. Two seats over, Jonathan Duhamel reraises to 3.1 million straight, and the action comes back to Cheong. He calls, and we'll see a flop heads-up.

It comes {4-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, and Cheong knocks the table. Duhamel continues out with a bet of 3.25 million, and his fans applaud his carefully chosen amount. Cheong, though, is unimpressed, and he calls without too much deliberation.

The {6-Clubs} arrives on the turn, and Cheong checks again. Duhamel checks it back, and the river comes the {J-Diamonds}. Cheong figures now is the time for a bet, and he slides 8.25 million chips out into the pot. Now it's Duhamel with a decision, and he takes just a minute to consider before announcing the call.

Cheong shows his {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} first, and we won't know what Duhamel had until we see it on TV. He mucks, and Cheong drags himself a big pot and the chip lead.

Hand #50: Filippo Candio

John Racener has the button in Seat 7.

Michael Mizrachi starts the action with a raise to 1.5 million from the cutoff seat. Racener quickly gives up his button, allowing Candio to splash a huge re-raise -- to 6.9 million total -- into the pot from the small blind. Senti folds the big blind.

We haven't seen Mizrachi in the think tank much yet today, but here he takes his time deciding what to do. After about a minute, he folds his hand. Candio takes down the pot.

Hand #53: Jonathan Duhamel Gets One Back from Joseph Cheong

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

Joseph Cheong has the button in Seat 2.

Cheong makes it 1.325 million to go. Jonathan Duhamel reraises from the big blind to 4.15 million. Cheong makes the call.

The flop comes down {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. Both players check to see the {K-Spades} add another broadway card on the turn. Duhamel takes his time before he slides out a hefty bet worth 7.2 million. Cheong folds and Duhamel wins the pot.

Hand #56: Candio Shows a Bluff

Filippo Candio
Filippo Candio

Michael Mizrachi has the button in Seat 5.

Jason Senti tries a raise again, making it 1,350,000 to go. The Grinder is there to greet him again, this time calling in position. Filippo Candio also calls from the big blind for a three-way pot.

The flop comes all wheel cards, {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Candio, the first player to act, checks to Senti. Senti and Mizrachi quickly check behind in turn.

The turn is a second heart, {k-Hearts}. Candio flings 2,900,000 into the middle of the table, about two-thirds of the pot. Senti folds his cards without much hesitation. Mizrachi, on the other hand, glances in Candio's direction a few times. After about a minute they start talking to each other. Unfortunately we can't hear the conversation. Whatever passes between them may have helped Grinder make up his mind. He calls.

The river {3-Spades} draws a murmur from the theater. Candio fires again, pushing out a bet of 4,450,000. While Grinder thinks, the audience entertains itself with repeated "shhhhhhhhh"s hissing out from around the theater until Effel kills it all with an, "Ok guys. That's enough. Thank you."

After a minute Grinder folds. Candio picks both of his cards up off of the table, holds them over his head (one in each hand) and then throws them down on the table -- {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, a busted flush draw. He drags in a nice pot.

Hand #57: Michael Mizrachi

John Racener has the button in Seat 7.

Michael Mizrachi raises to 1.5 million. John Racener calls from the button and everyone else folds.

The flop comes down {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Mizrachi checks. Racener checks behind and the {K-Diamonds} pairs the board on the turn. Mizrachi fires two million. Racener folds and Mizrachi wins the pot, causing Racener to slip further.
