Kostritsyn Gets in Deep

Level 10 : 800/1,500, 0 ante
Alex Kostritsyn
Alex Kostritsyn

Alex Kostritsyn raised in early position, and Dario Alioto three-bet a couple seats over. Kostritsyn called, and off they went to the flop heads-up.

It came {9-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds}, and Kostritsyn led right back out with a bet. Alioto called there, and he called again after the turn brought the {Q-Clubs}. Kostritsyn bet one more time after the {A-Clubs} river, and it was there that Alioto finally raised to two bets. Kostritsyn probably knew what was what, but he splashed the last 3,000 into the pot to see for sure.

Alioto turned over {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {5-Spades}, and his queens full of aces gets him the full pot. After that exchange, Alioto is up to 40,000, and Kostritsyn is back down to 69,000 -- about where he started the day.

Negreanu's Nuts

In a three-bet pot preflop, PokerStars Team Pro's Daniel Negreanu and Anton Allemann saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} against a third opponent. Allemann led out, the player in the middle called, Negreanu made it two bets and Allemann made it three. The player in the middle folded, and Negreanu made the call.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, and Negreanu slowed down, opting to just call Allemann's bet. The river was the {k-Spades}, and it was Allemann's turn to pump the breaks. He check-called a bet from Negreanu, who opened {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{x-}{x-} for the nuts.

Buchanan's Building

Andrew Brown, Shawn Buchanan, Jason Lester and a fourth opponent saw a flop of {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Brown lead out, the fourth opponent called, Buchanan made it two bets, and Lester made it three bets. The action folded back to Buchanan who called, and the turn was the {7-Hearts}. Both players checked.

The river was the {4-Hearts}, and both players checked again. Buchanan tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}, Lester mucked, and Buchanan was shipped the pot.

Brunson Busts

Level 10 : 800/1,500, 0 ante

Three people saw a flop of {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} including Todd Brunson, Erick Lindgren and Dan Kelly. The three got in enough bets to put Brunson all in, and the turn brought the {q-Clubs}. Lindgren checked, Kelly bet into a dry pot, and Lindgren called.

The river was the {9-Diamonds}, and Lindgren decided to lead out this time. Kelly folded, and Lindgren opened {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} for two-pair; kings and fives. Brunson showed {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Spades}, mucked his hand, and headed for the exit.
