The Bubble, She is Burst

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Dan Kelly
Dan Kelly

Dan Kelly was awfully short-stacked, and the last of his chips went into the pot on the turn of a {2-Hearts} {4-Spades} {9-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} board. Freddy Deeb came along with a chance at the knockout.

Showdown
Kelly: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Deeb: {A-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Spades}

Deeb was drawing from behind, but the river filled in his wheel to give him the scoop. With it comes the bounty of Dan Kelly, the unlucky winner of the proverbial wooden spoon as the bubble boy.

Our final 27 are all in the money, and we'll play out the remaining 51 minutes of this level before bringing out the chip bags.

Level Change?

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

The clock says Level 18, but because we are on the bubble we will continue to play at 4000/8000 until a player busts. The clock will keep running, and once we burst the bubble then we will jump to 5000/10000.

Rivet Chipping Up

The action folded to Dan Kelly who raised on the button, and both Alessio Isaia and Guillaume Rivet called out of the blinds. The flop came down {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}, Isaia led out, Rivet raised, and Kelly released. Isaia called the raise, and the turn brought the {6-Clubs}. Isaia slowed down, check-calling a bet from Rivet.

The {5-Spades} on the river brought a possible low and flush, and Isaia check-called one more bet. Rivet tabled {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a straight and a sixty-five low, Isaia mucked, and Rivet scooped the pot.

Mercier Super-Short

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Josh Arieh raised from under the gun, and Jason Mercier called out of the big blind. Mercier proceeded to check-call the flop ({2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}) and turn ({2-Spades}), but check-folded after the river ({6-Clubs}).

Mercier is now super-short with only 15,000 chips.

All In and... a Chop

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Jason Mercier opened the pot from the button, and Josh Arieh three-bet from the small blind. Mercier flatted, and the flop brought {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} for the two men. Mercier called a bet there, and he raised all in on the {3-Clubs} turn. Arieh quickly matched the shove bet, and the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Mercier: {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Arieh: {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

Arieh's aces were no good to Mercier's full house, but his wheel did have him in the lead for the low half of the pot and he was drawing to the last ace in the deck for a scoop. However, the river fell a blank. No money changes hands, and it's onto the next hand-for-hand hand. Mercier is still quite short with 56,000 chips.

Blowing Bubbles

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

We've got 28 players left, and the tournament is being dealt hand-for-hand. One more player will go home empty-handed, while the 27 survivors will all be guaranteed a paycheck upon their eventual eliminations.

Isaia Game

Viacheslav Zhukov opened from the cutoff, and the action folded to Alessio Isaia who called in the small blind. The flop came down {2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, Isaia led out, Zhukov raised, and Isaia called. Both players checked the {j-Hearts} on the turn, and Isaia check-called a bet after the {5-Clubs} rivered.

Isaia showed {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a six-high straight and the nut-low, and Zhukov mucked.

Lawson Tanks and Busts

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Ted Lawson
Ted Lawson

In early position, Eric Buchman opened with a raise, and Ray Dehkargani three-bet next door. In the cutoff seat, Ted Lawson spent long enough considering his play that the clock had to be called on him. He let it tick almost all the way down to zero before finally calling. Odd.

The {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} came on the flop, and Dehkargani led the betting. Lawson called, and Buchman check-raised to force both opponents to put in two bets. Buchman led the {Q-Hearts} turn with both opponents calling, and the {8-Diamonds} filled out the board on the river. Buchman fired one more time, Dehkargani folded, and Lawson called all in for his tournament life.

He showed up {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} for the ace-high flush, but it was no good. Buchman's {9-Clubs} {9-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} had flopped it full, and he's up to 334,000 after stacking the rest of Lawson's chips into his own pile.
