Zhukov Scoops Ashby

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Richard Ashby raised from middle position, Viacheslav Zhukov put in two bets from the big blind, and Ashby called. The flop came down {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}, Zhukov led out, Ashby raised, and Zhukov called.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds}, and Zhukov slowed down, check-called a bet from Ashby. Both players checked after the {j-Diamonds} fell on the river, and Zhukov opened {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} to scoop the pot.

Billirakis Doubles Again

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Steve Billirakis and Mikael Thuritz got four bets in preflop - enough to put Billirakis all in - and the hands were opened up.

Billirakis: {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Thuritz: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The {2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop gave Billirakis a flush draw, and he completed that flush when the {k-Hearts} turned. The {q-Spades} on the river did not complete a low for Thuritz, doubling Billirakis to over 400,000 chips.

Rivet Hears it From the Crowd

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Guillaume Rivet raised to open the pot, and Jason Steinberg defended his big blind to go heads-up to the flop.

It came {10-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {J-Spades}, and Steinberg check-called a bet. On the {3-Hearts} turn, he check-raised, and Rivet paid the extra bet to see the {Q-Diamonds} river. Steinberg checked again this time, and Rivet checked it back. Steinberg's hand had a jack and a three in it, but they were quickly mucked.

Rivet's {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} was flushtastic, giving him the pot and boosting his stack back up to about 605,000. The audience erupted in a brief but boisterous French-Canadian frenzy.

Josh Arieh Eliminated in 9th Place ($42,514)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Josh Arieh - 9th Place
Josh Arieh - 9th Place

Josh Arieh raised from the cutoff seat, Viacheslav Zhukov three-bet from the button, and Mack Lee cold-called from the big blind. Arieh called all in for less, and the dealer flopped {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Lee led out, Zhukov raised, and then Lee went to call, but accidentally put in a third bet, tossing too many chips in front of him. Zhukov called.

Lee slowed down, check-calling bets on the turn ({q-Diamonds}) and river ({5-Diamonds}), and all three hands were opened.

Lee: {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs} - Low
Zhukov: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts} - High
Arieh: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} - 9th Place and $42,514

Josh Arieh completed from the small blind, Viacheslav Zhukov raised out of the big, and Arieh called. The flop came down {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, and Arieh check-folded to a bet from Zhukov.

Billirakis Doubles Through Steinberg

Steve Billirakis opened from early position, Jason Steinberg put in a second bet, and the action folded back to Billirakis who moved all in. Steinberg called.

Billirakis: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Steinberg: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}

Steinberg was ahead, and remained so when the flop fell {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The {j-Hearts} on the turn gave Billirakis a flush draw though, and the {2-Hearts} on the river completed that flush to doubled him to 370,000 chips.

Steinberg Scoops a Big One

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Jason Steinberg raised to open the pot, and he was called by both Guillaume Rivet and Mikael Thuritz.

The flop brought {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {6-Spades}, and Thuritz checked from the big blind. Steinberg bet, both opponents called, and the {10-Diamonds} appeared on fourth street. Steinberg bet again, but this time Rivet raised to 160,000. Thuritz thought long and hard before passing, and Steinberg called for the river.

It was the {J-Clubs}, and Steinberg check-called one last bet. He showed {7-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {J-Hearts} {A-Hearts} for the jack-high straight, and it was good. Rivet flashed a {6-} {7-} for the bad straight, and Steinberg scoops up that big pot. He should be around the million-chip mark now; we'll go count him down now.

Zhukov Quartered

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Viacheslav Zhukov opened from middle position, and the action folded to Richard Ashby who called in the small blind. The flop came down {4-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and Ashby check-called a bet from Zhukov. Both players checked the {q-Clubs} on the turn, an after the {3-Clubs} was dealt on the river Ashby led out. Zhukov called.

Ashby: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Zhukov: {a-}{2-}{6-Spades}{x-}

Both players shared the nut-low, but Ashby's pair of queens were good for the high, and he was awarded three-quarters of the pot.
