Pierce Dunked, Scott Sunk

Paul Pierce: from downtown ... to Bustville
Paul Pierce: from downtown ... to Bustville

It's no lie - Boston Celtics legend Paul "The Truth" Pierce has been eliminated from this event.

The action folded to California's Casey Stewart who raised to 850 from middle position before Pierce reraised to 1,500. All the others got out of the way and Stewart four-bet it, putting Pierce at risk. Pierce decided to call all-in and the cards were tabled:

Stewart: {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Pierce: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The board was spread {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Pierce was fouled out. We can also report that Kara Scott has also been eliminated after having been crippled in an earlier hand.

Karr Takes Big Hit

Paul_Oresteen • Level 8: 200-400, 50 ante

McLean Karr four-bet on the button to 3,175 preflop and got one caller. They went to the flop of {J-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}, the caller checked, Karr bet 5,300 and the other player moved all in. Karr snap called and tabled {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}, unfortunately for him his opponent held {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} for top set.

The board finished {2-Spades} {9-Spades} and Karr sent 16,000 over to his opponent.

Scotty Says he was Slow-Playing

We don't know the action preflop, but when we got to Scotty Nguyen's table he was calling a bet from the person in front of him on a board of {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Both players decided to check on the {5-Clubs} turn. On the {7-Clubs} river however it was Nguyen who put out a bet of 2,000 after his opponent checked to him.

The player in early position folded, and Nguyen showed him what he had claiming he had slow played him. Nguyen however did not show us what he was holding...

Triple Up with Lucky Sevens

Paul_Oresteen • Level 8: 200-400, 50 ante

We caught a three-way preflop all in. Francois Binedde found three callers while holding pocket sevens. He was facing pocket kings and {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}.

The board ran {2-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {7-Hearts} and Binedde spiked a seven on the river and tripled up with his set.

Jon Turner Quietly Lucks Out

We found Jon Turner at his table raising under the gun only to be reraised by a player in middle position who had gone all in for about 7000 in chips. Turner contemplated for a couple of minutes before ultimately putting the chips in the middle. Cards were turned over and Turner was in bad shape as his {6-}{6-} needed a lot of help to beat his opponent's {K-}{K-}.

The cards fell {J-}{6-}{8-}{2-}{9-} and with a set of sixes, ever so quiet Turner added more chips to his consistently high stack.

"Humberto Makes A Squeeze Play" by Humberto Brenes

We caught up to the action, or rather were called over to the action by Humberto Brenes. While a player sat and thought about what he was going to do Brenes was kind enough to tell us how the action went. He says that a player in late position made a raise which the small blind called.

Brenes then raised on the big blind and made it 2,000. The player in late position folded and after a few minutes of contemplation the small blind folded.

Humberto being Humberto was kind enough to let his opponent see one of his cards, and a {K-Diamonds} was flipped.

Feldman Doubles Up

[user135779] • Level 7: 150-300, 25 ante

From under the gun, Andrew Feldman moved all in for his last 2,775 before the flop and the action folded around to a player in middle position who reraised. The others got out of the way before the cards were tabled:

Feldman: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Board: {8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Feldman's set was more than enough to pick up the pot and stay alive in this tournament.
