Zolotow Scoops Massive Pot and Moves On

Level 7 : 1,000/1,000, 0 ante

We caught up with the action to see Alexander Venovski move all in on a board of {J-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{A-Spades}.

Zolotow quickly called and tabled {K-Spades}{2-Spades} for the nuts and left Venovski on his last leg.

The match quickly ended after this crippling hand, thus advancing Zolotow to the next round. After the match, Zolotow attempted to shake his opponent's hand, but Venovski stormed off.

Tweet, Tweet

Level 7 : 1,000/1,000, 0 ante

A cryptic, and potentially very interesting tweet from Michael Binger during the break:

"Loser of my match with @shaundeeb has to parachute into back lot of Rio"

I'm not sure what else to add to that, except that I hope they let us know when it's happening first.

Rajkumar, Cody and Elias Advance to Second Round

Level 7 : 1,000/1,000, 0 ante

Vivek Rajkumar defeated Pramesh Bansi with flair, cracking his opponent's {A-}{A-} with a set of Three's. After getting all of the chips into the middle, Rajkumar was far behind Bansi's rockets but when the door card was revealed to be the {3-}, his flopped set was enough to dispatch a shocked Bansi. Jake Cody also moved on to the next round when his {4-}{4-} materialized into a set on the flop. The {A-}{6-} held by George Adams was not enough and Cody advanced to Round 2. Also moving on to the second round was Darren Elias, whose {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} hit the flop of {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} hard. His opponent John Monnette held {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and was far behind, ultimately falling to Elias' nut flush when the turn and river came {6-Clubs} and {3-Diamonds}.

Hansen and Mercier Go All In Blind

Level 6 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

More details on that Jason Mercier double up from a moment ago.

Gus Hansen suggested going all in blind. Mercier agreed and both shoved their stacks in the middle without looking.

Showdown
Hansen: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Mercier: {4-Spades}{10-Spades}

The flop came {4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, giving Mercier the lead. A {J-Diamonds} fell on the turn, leaving Hansen flush and counterfeit outs. The {9-Diamonds} river came safe for Mercier, who doubled again to 92,000.

Mercier Chipping Away

Level 6 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Jason Mercier was in trouble early in his match with Gus Hansen, but the tides are turning. We were too far away to see the hand, but we did just spot Mercier doubling up through his opponent to take a 2:1 lead. It's about 96,000 to 54,000 by our eyeballs.

Lykov and Esfandiari Will Face Off In Round 2

Level 6 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Round 1 at table #359 is complete. Maxim Lykov bested David Benefield when the two saw a flop of {8-}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. When the hands were turned up, Benefield flipped over {Q-}{8-} but were behind Lykov’s {10-}{10-}. There was no help for Benefield on the next two streets and Lykov won the match.

On the other side of the table, Antonio Esfandiari and David Peters got it all in preflop. Esfandiari held {A-}{Q-} and was ahead of Peters’ {Q-}{7-}. The board bricked out and Esfandiari advanced to the second round.
