Dwan Scoops With Sixes

Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

Stud-8

Daniel Alaei: (X)(X) / {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs} / (X)
Tom Dwan: (X)(X) / {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} / (X)
Eight Seat: (X)(X) / {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} / (X)

We came in on fourth street when the eight seat checked, Alaei Bet, Dwan raised, the eight seat called and Alaei called. On fifth street the eight seat checked, Alaei checked, Dwan bet and both players called. On sixth street the eight seat checked, Alaei checked, Dwan bet again and both players called. All three players checked seventh street and Dwan announced "Just sixes" which surprisingly was enough to scoop the whole pot.

Dwan is up to second in chips after the hand with 218,000 and Alaei has fallen down to 90,000.

Oppenheim Takes Some from O'Dell

Level 13

Omaha-8

Frankie O'Dell raised in the cutoff, and David Oppenheim made it three bets from the button. O'Dell called, and they went to the {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} flop heads up. O'Dell check-raised Oppenheim, who called. The turn was the {j-Diamonds}, and Oppenheim flatted a 6,000-chip big bet. O'Dell gave up with a check on the {a-Clubs} river, and Oppenheim checked behind and showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. His aces up was good enough to scoop the whole pot.

Angle or Not, Negreanu Chipping Up

Daniel Negreanu just turned to the PokerNews blogging desk and said, "You know where I'm coming from right?"

Both the bloggers that were seated responded with a yes and a few nods.

"Like, it can be such an angle shot, as I can bet half and if he raises me, it's just a call!"

Since the argument, Negreanu however has chipped back up to be hovering around the 95,000-chip mark

Fricke On His Last Legs

Razz

Andrey Zaichenko: (X)(X) / {9-}{7-}{5-}{9-} / (X)
Jimmy Fricke: (X)(X) / {5-}{2-}{10-}{2-} / (X)

We came into the hand on sixth street when Andrey Zaichenko bet and Jimmy Fricke called. Seventh street was dealt and Zaichenko bet again with Fricke taking his time before finally calling. Zaichenko showed {a-}{4-}{2-} and Fricke sighed and said "Easy game eh?" as he threw his cards into the muck. Fricke is down to just 20,000 after the hand while Zaichenko is up over 300,000

Spades Bite Shaun

Level 13

Stud

Shaun Deeb: (X)(X) / {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} / (X)
Robert Williamson III: (X)(X) / {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} / (X)

Shaun Deeb check-called a bet on seventh to watch Robert Williamson III turn up {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} for a rivered spade flush. He could only look at his own board, showing three spades, and muck in disgust. Deeb was down to his last 9,000 after that hand and gone soon after. Williamson is up to 140,000.

Fricke Gets Some Life, Matusow All But Out

Stud

Mike Matusow and Jimmy Fricke were both very short and Fricke got it all in on third street leaving Matusow with 5,000 behind and their boards running out like this.

Fricke: {10-}{10-} / {10-}{5-}{3-}{k-} / {2-}
Matusow: {A-}{Q-} / {A-}{2-}{j-}{j-} / {9-}

The two caught a bit of a sweat on sixth street when Matusow had two pair, but seventh street was a brick {9-} for Matusow and the pot went to Fricke who is back up to 54,000. Matusow only has 5,000 left in the tournament
