Nearing the Money

Level 11

We currently have 70 players remaining in the tournament. Only 63 of them will be making the money so we will likely be starting hand for hand play in the near future.

It's (Lacey) Curtains for Cagney

PLO

Francis Cagney was all in with {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} against Josh Budin's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} preflop and picked up a gutshot and flush draw on the {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop. Cagney took the lead on the {K-Diamonds} turn but the river was the {7-Clubs} and Budin' made a full house to knock out the short stack.

Baker Putting the Heat on His Table

PLO

Andrew Nguyen got his last 22,100 chips in the middle preflop against David Baker.

Baker: {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Nguyen: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The flop of {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} gave Baker a pair of tens to take the lead but also gave Nguyen an inside straight draw. The {q-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing and the {10-Clubs} on the river gave Baker trip tens and the win. Nguyen headed to the rail while Baker chipped up to 235,000.

Chen and Marcus Hit the Rail in Another Double-Elimination Hand

PLO

With around 4,000 in the pot and a flop of {Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Bill Chen checked and Jan Fernandez bet 2,500. Van Marcus made the call, at which point Chen sprang to life with a check-raise to 14,000. Fernandez thought for a solid minute before reraising pot.

"Alright, I'm all in," Marcus shouted. Before the chips were even in the middle, both Chen and Fernandez had called. Fernandez had his two opponents covered, so he was the only player not at risk.

Fernandez: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Marcus: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Chen: {Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Chen had flopped two pair and an open-ended straight draw, but was up against the top set and flush draw of Marcus. However, Fernandez held an even better flush draw. The dealer quickly burned and slammed down the {10-Hearts} giving Fernandez the said flush and the lead. Chen was drawing dead while Marcus needed the board to pair in order to survive.

Unfortunately for him, the {K-Clubs} blanked on the river and Fernandez scored the double knockout.

Williams Wins World; Everyone Else Should Run Away

David Williams
David Williams

PLO

A four way all in preflop and no, this is not a cash game.

David Williams: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}
Randy Cherkas: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Adam Wessley: {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Mark Davidoff: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} which was great for Williams as he made trips but everyone else, hoping for a sweat was left with an anti-climax as the {A-Diamonds} on the turn - the case ace - meant Williams was scooping the entire pot before the {10-Spades} hit the river.

Williams has around 270,000, which is nearly five times the average stack.

Baker Busts Two to Crack 200K

PLO

Jan-Peter Jachtmann raised to 3,600 from early position and was quickly three-bet to 16,000 by Dani stern on the button. David "ODB" Baker made the call from the small blind, and Jachtmann pushed back by moving all in for 14,200 more. This reopened the action so that Stern could get all in for 47,000 total. Baker, who had both players covered, made the call.

Baker: {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Stern: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Jachtmann: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

It was anyone's pot headed to the flop, which fell {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-}. The flop wasn't much help to anyone, except putting out a flush draw for all three players. The {7-} turn gave Baker a pair of sevens, but both he and Stern were behind the nines of Jachtmann.

Needless to say, the river was going to have a lot of implications. The dealer burned and put out {10-}, giving Baker two pair and the win. He eliminated both Stern and Jachtmann to chip up to just over 200,000.

Clements Staying Active

PLO

Scott Clements raised to 2,800 in late position and was called by Inesa Paberzs from the small blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Paberzs check-called a bet of 3,200 from Clements. The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and Paberzs checked again. Clements bet 4,600 and after tanking for a few minutes Paberzs decided to call.

When the river brought the {10-Diamonds}, Paberzs checked again and this time Clements fired out a bet of 10,200. Paberzs decided to give up the hand and her stack dropped to 84,000 while Clements stack increased to 76,000.

Chan Takes One Off Entin

PLH

Action folded to Jonas Entin on the button and he put in a standard raise to 2,800. Wilson Chan decided to look him up from the big blind and the duo watched the flop come down {6-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Chan checked, Entin bet 3,800, and Chan called.

Both players proceeded to check the {5-Diamonds} turn as well as the {8-Diamonds} river. Chan flipped over {5-Spades}{3-Clubs} for two pair and Entin simply mucked.

Clements Profits While Allen Triples

Scott Clements
Scott Clements

PLO

Kevin Allen raised to 4,000 under the gun, leaving just 800 behind, and Wilfried Harig called from middle position. When action reached Scott Clements in the big blind, he announced pot, making it 11,500 more to go. Allen called off his paltry stack while Harig put in the additional chips.

Harig, who hails from Denmark, checked the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop and Clements immediately announced, "Pot." Harig immediately folded and it was heads-up action with Allen at risk.

Clements: {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Allen: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}

It appeared Clements had his eyes set on the sizable side pot, which he happily added to his stack. As for the main pot, Allen was ahead with his aces. The {3-Diamonds} turn gave Clements a straight draw, but the {Q-Clubs} river blanked. Allen tripled on the hand.
