Smith Shoves, Negreanu Lets It Go

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Tyler Smith opened by raising to 2,700 from the cutoff and it folded to Daniel Negreanu in the small blind who made it 7,200 to go. The BB got out, and Smith made the call.

Both checked the {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{K-Diamonds} flop. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Negreanu checked again. Smith took the opportunity to bet 10,300, and Negreanu called.

The river was the {2-Hearts}. Negreanu checked again, and Smith announced he was all in for the 61,000 or so he had left. Negreanu took his time contemplating what to do. He counted out his remaining chips, then leaned back and exhaled, shaking his head as he did. Finally he grabbed his cards, and waiting another few seconds, tossed them dealerward.

Negreanu preserves his stack of about 142,000. Meanwhile, Smith now has about 95,000.

Two Hands / Hour

David "Doc" Sands opened to 2,600 from the cutoff seat, Haralabos Voulgaris three-bet to 8,600 from the big blind, and Sands called. The flop came down {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and Voulgaris quickly fired 11,700. Sands tanked for 30-40 seconds before folding.

"What were you waiting for?" Voulgaris joked. "I play two hands an hour. I had three aces"

"I wasn't Hollywood-ing," Sands responded, the slightest bit perturbed.

"I know you weren't," Voulgaris reaffirmed. "I don't care."

"Some people do," Sands responded.

The two then began chatting about life before online poker, and everything was just peachy.

Le Lettin' Loose

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

In the first hand, Tuan Le opened for 2,800 from the cutoff and was called by Seth Fischer on the button. The flop came {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Le c-bet to 3,500. Fischer called. Both players checked the {10-Diamonds} turn, but when the {8-Spades} landed on the river, Le fired again for 6,500. Fischer had had enough and folded.

The very next hand, Le opened for his usual 2,800 from the cutoff and was again called by the button - this time Dan O'Brien. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and Le c-bet to 3,500. O'Brien mucked.

Le has chipped up to 95,000 since the start of the day.

Pouchain Pushes, Karr Wrecks, Klein Concedes

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Bill Klein
Bill Klein

Mike Sowers opened with a raise to 2,900 from UTG and Bill Klein -- whom some may recall from his appearance on the most recent season of "High Stakes Poker" -- called from one seat over. McLean Karr, sitting in the cutoff, then set his remaining 15,500 before him, reraising all in.

It folded to Julien Pouchain in the small blind who checked his cards, then announced he was reraising all in over the top. Sowers got out, and after a great deal of thought Klein folded as well.

Pouchain {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Karr {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}, and Karr is out. At the sight of that third club, Klein winced, eventually revealing to Pouchain that he'd folded {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

"If you knew what I had you would have folded," said Pouchain, and the retired businessman nodded in agreement, perhaps in the knowledge that fortunes are more readily made via sound decisions, not fretting about what might have been.

Klein currently sits with about 46,000, while Pouchain has moved up over 195,000.

Smith Sends Bentham Packing

Tyler Smith opened to 2,600 from the cutoff, Thomas Bentham moved all in for 26,100 on the button, the blinds released, and Smith called.

Smith: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Bentham: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Bentham remained ahead after the flop fell {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, but the {9-Diamonds} spiked on the turn, giving Smith a leading pair. The {3-Diamonds} bricked on the river, and Bentham was eliminated from the tournament.

Wolpert Busts

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Marco Johnson raised to 2,400 from middle position and Leo Wolpert reraised to 6,200 from the button. Johnson made it 16,700 to go and Wolpert moved all in. Johnson had him covered and called.

Johnson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Wolpert: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} and Wolpert was sent to the rail. Johnson now has close to 100,000 in chips.

He's Phil Hellmuth

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Phil Hellmuth limped in from the cutoff, and it folded to Samad Rashid in the small blind who called. Jim McManus, sitting in the big blind, checked his cards and tapped the felt.

All three checked the {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop and {K-Diamonds} turn. The river brought the {4-Spades} and another check from Rashid. McManus pushed out three yellow (1000) chips, Hellmuth quickly called, and after a recheck of his cards Rashid tossed his hand away.

McManus showed his {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a straight, made on (positively) fifth street. Hellmuth smiled, showing his {Q-Spades}{6-Spades} for the same straight, and the pair chopped the pot.

"I already had that money spent, Phil!" said McManus. "I'm Phil Hellmuth!" said Hellmuth.

He's Phil Hellmuth. And he's got about 84,000 at the moment. McManus, meanwhile, continues to nurse a short stack, hovering just under 20,000.

Devilfish Doubles Through Kovalchuk

WIth the board reading {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, David Ulliott got his stack into the middle with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} against Oleksii Kovalchuk's {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

"Whatever, I want to go play the PLO Championship," said Ulliott.

Looks like he'll have to stick around here a bit longer as the {J-Spades} turn and {J-Diamonds} river gave him quads to double up.

"Don't go to war with the fish," said Ulliott as he stacked his chips.

Tafur Doubles Through Negreanu

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened from the button and Daniel Tafur pushed all-in for 29,000 from the big blind.

Negreanu thought the hand out-loud as he commonly does - trying to assess Tafur's range.

"I think I'm usually good here most of the time," Negreanu said as he slid out a call.

Tafur flipped over {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, which was in good shape to double against Negreanu's {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Spades} and Tafur doubled to just over 60,000, while Negreanu slipped to about 160,000.
