Scott Sitron Eliminated in 5th Place ($156,090)

Scott Sitron - 5th Place
Scott Sitron - 5th Place

Scott Sitron opened with an under the gun raise only to have Matthew Carmody three-bet the button to 140,000. Once the blinds passed and the action passed back to Sitron, he four-bet to an additional 260,000.

Carmody paused before making the call as the dealer spread a {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop as Sitron fired a continuation-bet of 500,000. Carmody moved all in, and with only 520,000 remaining, Sitron made a committed call.

Sitron: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Carmody: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

With Sitron drawing dead to a runner-runner wheel or kings, the {4-Diamonds} on the turn completed one of his backdoor draws. Unfortunately for Sitron, the river would land the {K-Spades} to end his tournament in 5th place, and as he collected $156,090 for his efforts, Carmody soared to 7,450,000 in chips.

Slow Goings

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

With play currently five-handed, the action is rather slow with just a single preflop raise here and there enough to take down a pot.

With the difference between busting now and winning nearly $520,000, it is no surprise that the remaining players are playing a little cautiously.

And The Rail Goes Crazy!

From the small blind, Andre Akkari opened the action with a 75,000-chip raise which was called by Nachman Berlin in the big.

The {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop was checked through to see the {7-Diamonds} land on the turn as Akkari fired out a delayed continuation-bet of 125,000. Berlin folded and Akkari was pushed the pot - much to the delight of his rail that occupies nearly half the Thunder-Dome!

Big Bluff For Carmody

Matthew Carmody began the action by raising to 65,000. Jacob Naquin decided to throw in a three-bet, making it 175,000. Carmody made the call and the two players were off to a flop.

The flop came {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Naquin continued out for 185,000. Carmody made the call and the turn came {Q-Clubs}. This time Naquin checked and Carmody fired out a bet of 200,000. Naquin decided to check raise, making it 530,000. Carmody once again made the call.

The river brought the {5-Clubs} and Naquin checked. Carmody pushed out a tall stack of green chips, totaling 500,000 and Naquin quickly mucked his cards, shaking his head.

Carmody triumphantly flipped up {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and received cheers from his section of the crowd.

Sitron Takes Down Two in a Row

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Jacob Naquin raised to 70,000 preflop and was called by Scott Sitron in the big blind. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Sitron checked and Naquin fired out 75,000. Sitron quickly made it 200,000 and Naquin mucked his cards.

The very next hand Nachman Berlin raised it to 75,000 preflop only to find Sitron pump it up to 200,000. Action folded back around to Berlin who, after some deliberation, shot his cards to the muck.

Nicolas Chouity Eliminated in 6th Place ($115,477)

Nicolas Chouity - 6th Place

From under the gun, 2010 EPT Grand Final Champion Nicolas Chouity pushed all in for his last 355,000. The action folded round to Matthew Carmody on the button, and he three-bet to 1,000,000 to force the blinds out.

Chouity: {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Carmody: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

With Chouity only sitting at a slight disadvantage in the hand, the {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} flop would see him drawing to just four outs to make a straight. The {8-Spades} on the turn however saw him gain another four, but when the river landed the {2-Clubs}, Chouity was pushed to the rail in 6th place for a $115,477 payday as Carmody moves to over 4.3 million.

Top Pair for Carmody

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Andre Akkari opened under the gun with a raise to 65,000 and both blinds made the call with Jacob Naquin and Matthew Carmody coming along from the small and big blind respectively.

The {9-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop was checked round to see Akkari fire a delayed continuation-bet of 135,000. Naquin passed, but Carmody made the call before both players checked the {7-Hearts} on the river.

Carmody tabled his {K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and collected the pot once Akkari folded.

Sitron Limp-Folds

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The action folded to Scott Sitron in the small blind, and he limped in for 30,000.

Jacob Naquin paused for a few moments before making it 115,000 total. Sitron took his allotted time before angling his cards to the muck.
