Rep Porter called the bring in and then Tommy Chen’s completion as well. Chen led out on fourth and Porter made the call. The action was reversed on fifth where Porter bet and Chen called. The action on sixth was the same as on the previous street and Porter led out once more on seventh. Chen came back with a raise this time but after Porter three-bet, Chen gave up. The hand caused the players to swap places as Porter took the chip lead while Chen became the shortest stack although all three players aren't separated by too much.
Once Robert Williamson III made his exit, so too did his rail which made up the large majority of the noise throughout the final table. There are only five spectators left now who are letting the players play quietly for the most part other than an occasional clap for Rep Porter.
Rep Porter called for the minimum 10,000 with a up, and Tommy Chen raised with a . Porter called.
Porter: (X)(X) / / (X)
Chen: (X)(X) / / (X)
Chen check-called a bet on fourth street, and he led out with one of his own on fifth. On sixth, he check-called again, and he checked one more time on seventh. Porter checked behind, and Chen showed up for the jack-low. Porter liked that, and his was good enough to make the winning ten-eight.
That loss knocks Chen all the way back to 540,000 and into the basement; it's a spot he's not had to get used to in this event. Until now.
Tommy Chen brought in and Stephen Su completed. Rep Porter made the call along with Chen as Porter led out on fourth. Chen made the call while Su folded as Porter bet again on fifth. Chen called again and then led out himself on sixth. Porter called this time and both players checked seventh. Chen turned over for an eighty-seven which was good as Porter mucked.
We picked up the action on fourth street, heads-up between Rep Porter and Tommy Chen.
Porter: (X)(X) / / (X)
Chen: (X)(X) / / (X)
Porter had the lead on fourth, but he check-called a bet from Chen. He liked fifth street better, though, and he made a bet of his own which Chen called. Porter got another bet in on sixth street, and both men checked through seventh.
Porter tabled for the ten-nine, and Chen could not beat it. He mucked, and he's left himself with just about 280,000 now.
Tommy Chen completed and Stephen Su raised. Chen made the call and then called Su’s bets on the next three streets. On seventh, Su bet out again and after counting it out, Chen moved all in for only 17,000 more. Su went into the tank and asked Chen if he beat an eight and if he would show. Eventually, Su laid it down even though it wasn’t much more for a chance to knock out his opponent. If Su did in fact have an eight, then he made the right fold as Chen revealed for seven low.
Rep Porter called the bring-in with a up, and Tommy Chen completed with a . Porter called, and they drew out thusly:
Porter: (X)(X) / / (X)
Chen: (X)(X) / / (X)
Chen bet all the way, and Porter called through sixth street. On seventh, though, he didn't like his cards enough to make the last call, surrendering the pot to Chen.
That one moves the short stack back out of the basement as Chen climbs back close to 900,000, reducing Porter's edge as he sits with about 1.1 million now.
We caught up with the action on fourth where Tommy Chen bet and Stephen su raised. Chen made the call and then called Su’s bets on the next two streets. On seventh, Su decided to check and Chen came in with a bet. Su answered with a raise and Chen went into the tank. Chen said “I don’t see how (Su) could be bluffing” before he folded. Su returned Chen’s favour of showing before and revealed for only a queen-low to win the pot.
Stephen Su completed with a deuce, and Tommy Chen defended his bring-in with a call on the .
Chen: (X)(X) / / (X)
Su: (X)(X) / / (X)
The action checked through to sixth street where Chen finally bet his lead. Su called, and they both checked seventh. "I got a ten?" Su half-asked. Chen didn't move, so Su showed up his , and it was good.
Chen is mumbling to himself now about not being able to win a pot, and his stack has been reduced to about 275,000 here as the penultimate level of the night draws near its end.
