The Shark Goes NOM NOM!

It was folded around to the button who raised to 600 and Humberto Brenes called from the small blind. On the {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, Brenes check-called his opponent’s bet of 1,100. Both players checked the {4-Diamonds} on the turn and and on the {3-Hearts} river, Brenes led for 2,000. The button made the call and Brenes revealed {K-Hearts}{10-Spades} for tens up which was good when his opponent mucked. The hand gave Brenes one of the bigger stacks in the room.

Kling Doubles

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

We caught up just as Lauren Kling was scooping a sizable pot. It appeared that Kling had gotten all-in against an opponent who had her covered. Kling's {10-}{10-} held against her opponent's {A-}{K-}, doubling her up to about 18,000.

Tables Breaking Quickly

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

There are only a handful of tables left in the Yellow Section of the Pavilion Room, but tournament staff are breaking them quickly. We're hoping to have the field in only the White and Black sections after the dinner break.

One Bet, Five Folds

We caught up with the action five-way on a {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board where the player under the gun checked to Darya Hulyk who bet 1,700. All of the remaining players in the hand folded and Hulyk took down the pot just like that.

Battle of the Blinds

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

Action folded all the way around to Phil Hellmuth in the small blind who called. The player in the big blind checked.

The flop ran out {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Hellmuth checked and his opponent bet 300. Hellmuth made the call. The turn brought the {9-Spades} and both players checked. The {10-Clubs} hit on the river and Hellmuth moved all in for his remaining 2,075. His opponent folded his cards into the muck.

Hellmuth now sits with around 4,000 in chips.

Poker Kat No Longer on the Prowl

Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

We didn’t see all of the action but it appeared as though the player under the gun limped and Kathy Liebert raised to 700 on the button. The UTG player then re-reraised to an amount we didn't catch and Liebert made the call.

On the {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, it was checked to Liebert who bet 2,000. Her opponent slammed down a pile of chips that was enough to put her all in. Liebert made the call as the players turned up their hands.

UTG: {Q-}{Q-}
Liebert: {J-}{J-}

Liebert was in bad shape and would need one of the two remaining jacks in the deck to survive and double up. Unfortunately for her, it came the {10-Diamonds} and {3-Diamonds} and she was eliminated.

Bakes Doubles, Moves Then Folds

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

We found David Bakes Baker in the Yellow section doubling with {A-} {9-} against another player's flush draw. Only a few minutes later we found him firing away in the White section.

Baker opened for 500 and the player in the cutoff called. The flop came {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}, Baker led out with 700 and got called by the cutoff player. The turn came {10-Hearts}, Baker checked, his opponent bet 1,300 and Baker folded.

Baker has a stack around 11,000.
