West Runs into Rockets

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

We noticed Tim West exiting the Pavilion and he was nice enough to let us know what had happened.

West has been nursing a 1,500 short stack and open-shoved from under-the-gun with {A-}{Q-}. He was called by a lone opponent who had the statistically worse hand West could be against - {A-}{A-}. West's hand failed to improve on the board and he was eliminated.

The Durrrr Stack Watch III

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Tom Dwan rushed back to his seat from the other tournament in the Amazon room just in time for his blinds. A player under the gun raised to 400. Dwan called from the button and the player from the big blind called.

The flop ran out {3-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and the player under the gun bet 625. Dwan made the call and the player in the big blind folded. The {7-Spades} fell on the river and Dwan's opponent made it 1,500. Dwan made the call. The {9-Diamonds} hit on the river and the player under the gun bet out 1,500 again. Dwan made the call and waited for his opponent to turn over his cards.

His opponent turned over {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Dwan turned over {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} to take down the pot. He now sits with around 13,200 in chips and has already left the table to go to the other tournament.

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth has finally taken his seat behind his 4,000 stack. He is seated in the Black section and so far he's been very quiet with his headphones on. We'll be sure to update should anything change.

Affleck's Stack Straightened Out

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

We caught up with the action on a {6-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs} board. Matt Affleck fired a 700 bet and was called by his lone opponent from the cutoff.

The {8-Spades} river completed the board and Affleck bet 2,500, which was enough to put his opponent all in. His opponent immediately called. Affleck tabled {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a flopped set, but was a little shocked to hear his opponent announce, "Straight," and flip over the {7-Clubs}{5-Spades} for the rivered straight.

Affleck is back down to 5,700.
