Juanda's Queen Is No Good

Level 4 : 200/400, 0 ante

John Juanda raised from under the gun and the player in the small blind three-bet. Jennifer Harman made the call from the big blind and Juanda called as well. Juanda and Harman drew two while the small blind took one. The small blind led out with a bet which was raised by Harman. Both players made the call.

Each player drew one during the second draw and action checked around. Harman and Juanda took one again on the third draw while the small blind stood pat. It checked around to Juanda who sighed and said "Okay" in a serious tone. Juanda bet and the small blind called, leaving Harman to get out of the way.

Juanda tabled {8-}{6-}{4-}{2-} and held his other card face down with a grin on his face. Then he flipped up the {Q-Hearts}. The small blind player took a couple of seconds smiling before tabling {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}.

"Aw, and I thought I won, too", Juanda said with a smile as the chips got pushed toward his opponent.

Mercier Building

Jason Mercier was pat after the first draw and up against two opponents. The first drew two and the second stood pat before Mercier bet out. The player that drew two folded, but the other player called. Both remaining players then stood pat. Mercier bet and his opponent gave it a nice, long thought before finally folding his hand. Mercier won the pot and is now over 18,000 in chips.

Spirit of '76

After a raise from middle position and a three-bet from the cutoff, Elissa Harwood made the call from the button. The original raiser called and drew one card. The cutoff took two and Harwood took one. The original raiser threw out a bet which was called by both.

During the second draw the original raiser stood pat while the cutoff took two and Harwood took one. There was a bet from the original raiser which the cutoff called. Harwood threw in a raise and the original raiser called while the cutoff mucked his hand.

Both players stood pat on the third and Harwood pushed out a bet once more that was called.

"Eighty-six" said Harwood's opponent, but it was no good as Harwood spread out {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for a seventy-six low.

Numero Uno For George

Level 4 : 200/400, 0 ante

The player from under the gun raised the action and was three-bet by Chris George from the cutoff. His opponent made the call and took two on the first draw. George took one and shot out a bet after his opponent checked. His opponent raised and George made the call.

His opponent stood pat while George took one during draw number two. George's opponent bet, George raised, and his opponent made the call. On the third draw George took one once again and his opponent stood pat.

George's opponent check-called a bet from George, only to find George spread {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} across the table. His opponent slapped his hand into the muck and George scooped the pot, bringing him up to 10,500.

Boyd Busts To Better Nine

We caught up to find Dutch Boyd all in against three other players. When the time came for the third draw, the floor was called because the draws had exhausted the deck and it was time for a re-shuffle. The question the players had was if the burn cards were to go into the re-shuffle. The floor came over and replied that the three burn cards stay out of the re-shuffle, and the hand continued after that.

Each of the remaining players drew one card while Boyd stood pat. After the player on the button bet out and the small blind player called, the button turned up a nine-perfect with {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} which beat Boyd's {9-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{2-} and Boyd was sent to the rail.

The Worst Seven is the Best Hand for Shorr

Shannon Shorr (Event #48)
Shannon Shorr (Event #48)

Action folded to Shannon Shorr on the button and he raised. His only caller was Scott Seiver from the big blind. Seiver drew three and Shorr drew two. Seiver then bet out and Shorr called.

After that, Seiver drew one and Shorr took two. Seiver led out, Shorr raised and Seiver called.

On the final draw, both players stood pat. Seiver checked, Shorr bet and Seiver called.

Shorr turned over {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} for the worst seven (minus the one that makes a straight) and Seiver mucked.
