Potter Punts One to the Rail

A player ended up all in for his last 2,000 chips against Jason Potter.

Potter: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
All-In Player: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}

The flop came {k-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} all but sealing the deal when it gave Potter kings full of fives. The turn and river were a meaningless {j-Spades} and {7-Hearts} and the other player was eliminated while Potter chipped up to 7,000.

He's Got a Cantu Attitude

We were wandering by Table 4 and spotted Brandon Cantu in Seat 2; not only that, he had a massive stack in front of him. By our count, Cantu is up to 21,000 and primed to make a deep run in this event.

Kenny Nguyen-ing

World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Chester Main Event winner Kenny Nguyen raised to 550 from the hijack, which cleared the field all the way to the big blind. A three-bet to 1,300 was made, Nguyen called, and the flop came down {2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

The big blind simply moved all in and Nguyen snap-called off his stack of 2,900.

Nguyen: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

Nguyen was ahead and looking to dodge a king, queen, or ten. The {6-Hearts} turn was safe enough, leaving Nguyen with just one card to sweat. The dealer burned and slowly revealed the {6-Diamonds}. Nguyen's hand held and he let a little smile creep across his face. Nguyen is up to 8,650.

Lew Losing Ground

It was a limpfest over at Randy Lew's table as a total of seven of the ten players at the table limped in and saw a flop of {6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Action checked to a player in middle position who bet 700 and Lew, who was in the cutoff, was the only player to call. The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and the first player check-called a bet of 950 from Lew. When the {k-Spades} came on the river both players checked. The first player revealed his {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Lew mucked leaving himself with 5,500 in chips.

Gromenkova Succumbs

Svetlana Gromenkova, who was nursing an extreme short stack, has been eliminated from the tournament. We didn't catch her last hand, but we can confirm that her chair is now empty.

Filippi Thriving

With about 1,400 in the pot and a board reading {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Amnon Filippi checked and allowed his opponent to bet 500. Filippi made the call and then turned around and led out for 1,300 when the {5-Clubs} peeled off on the river.

Filippi's bet proved enough to take down the pot without a showdown, giving him a stack of 22,000 in the process.
