Bakes Baked

Bakes will not make a return trip to the Player's Championship final table.
Bakes will not make a return trip to the Player's Championship final table.

Limit Hold'em

When we reached the table, the board was {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, and David "Bakes" Baker was already all in.

Steve Sung and "Crazy" Marco Johnson were heads up for a side pot, and Johnson bet out. Sung mucked.

Johnson: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Baker: {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Baker would double with a ten or any club except the {k-Clubs}. The river was the case queen though, giving Johnson quads, and sending Baker to the rail.

Hawrilenko Helps Himself to Hastings' Heap

Level 13

Stud

Brian Hastings completed with the {6-Clubs}, Matt "Hoss_TBF" Hawrilenko raised with the {J-Diamonds}, and Hastings called. Hawrilenko bet fourth and Hastings called, then both checked fifth. Hastings check-called Hawrilenko's sixth-street bet, then folded to Hoss_TBF's bet on seventh.

Hastings: (X)(X) / {6-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds} / (X) - FOLDED
Hawrilenko: (X)(X) / {J-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Spades}{K-Clubs} / (X)

Hawrilenko pushes up to 260,000, while Hastings still sits well above average with more than 500,000.

Chen Needs Chips

Level 13

Stud

Dealt the {2-Diamonds} up, Bill Chen brought it in then called when Brian Hastings completed with the {10-Hearts}. Chen again called Hastings' fourth-street bet, then took the lead betting both fifth and sixth with Hastings calling. Chen finally gave up on seventh, checking and folding to Hastings' bet to preserve his final 14,000 chips.

Chen: (X)(X) / {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} / (X) - FOLDED
Hastings: (X)(X) / {10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} / (X)

Hastings continues to enjoy a big stack of about 540,000. Meanwhile, Chen managed to more-than-double through Vladimir Shchemelev on the next hand to get back to 50,000.

Ashton Scoops Lisandro

Omaha-8

Jeffrey Lisandro opened for a raise in middle position, and found three callers in Hoi Cheung (button), Matthew Ashton (small blind) and David "ODB" Baker (big blind). The flop fell down {5-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, and the action checked to Lisandro who put out a continuation bet. Only Ashton called.

The turn was the {2-Hearts}, and Ashton led out. Lisandro called. Ashton led again after the {a-Diamonds} hit the river, and Lisandro tossed in a call.

Ashton unveiled {2-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for the wheel, Lisandro mucked, and Ashton scooped the pot.

Brown Falling Down, Hansen Continues Ascent

Level 13
Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Omaha-8

The Gus Hansen Express keeps rolling along. Just now came a hand in which Chad Brown raised from middle position, Jon Turner called from the button, and Hansen called as well from the small blind. The flop came {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, and Hansen bet, getting a call from Brown and a fold from Turner. The turn was the {K-Hearts} and Hansen bet again, and once more Brown called.

The river brought the {2-Clubs} and another bet from the chip leader. Brown called again, then mucked after seeing Hansen's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for fours full of kings.

Brown is down to about 85,000 now, while Hansen sits with about 1.165 million.

Brown and Out

Level 13
Chad Brown
Chad Brown

Omaha-8

Down to his last 42,000, Chad Brown opened with a raise from under the gun, then reraised back-and-forth with Jon "PearlJammer" Turner until all of his chips were in the middle.

Brown: {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Turner: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Not a good hand for Brown to be up against here. The board came {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, giving Turner a scoop and sending Brown to the rail.

Turner has about 440,000 now.

Danzer Done-zo

George Danzer - Eliminated
George Danzer - Eliminated

Stud-8

George Danzer: (X)(X) / {3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} / (X)
Matt Hawrilenko: (X)(X) / {j-Hearts}{a-Spades}{2-Diamonds} FOLDED
Ben "Benba" Lamb: (X)(X) / {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades} / (X)

We caught the action on fifth street, where Danzer bet out, Hawrilenko folded, and Lamb called. Danzer got the rest of his chips in on sixth street, and the hands were opened.

Danzer: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Lamb: {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Lamb was guaranteed half the pot with a made low, and could scoop with a deuce or a seven. He sweated his down-card, and it was the {7-Hearts}, giving him a seven-high straight. Danzer could still win the high with a club, and his down-card was black, but the {2-Spades} was a brick, and Danzer was eliminated.
